Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / kc sponsored by.........?

I was really rather annoyed on receiving my litter registration certs today, to find enclosed vouchers for eukanuba dog food and the wallet the certs arrived in all sponsored by Eukanuba. Why would they send out vouchers for a food unless it was the correct food to go with the puppys??? I think its really appalling and will be writing to the kc about this.

I don't have any litters planned at the moment but, if I had, and I received these coupons with my registrations, I would be putting them straight in the bin.  What is the point of responsible breeders providing detailed diet sheets, tried and tested over many litters and many years, if the KC are sending out the message that "they know best" regarding food?  I may be being a bit sensitive here but, if just given out willy nilly with the paperwork, new owners could take the vouchers as an endorsement of the product.  Maybe the KC should ask Eukanuba to step in and replace Pedigree at championship shows if they are that desparate for their support. Good on you sam for writing and expressing your feelings :-)

I dont see the problem. You can just bin them if you dont want to give them out...

How would the KC know what you thought was the correct food for your pups? Eukanuba is a good quality food, I'm sure lots of breeders think it's ok for their pups :-)  I don't think it's appalling, if you don't want the vouchers don't use them - simples.

I feed my lot Eukanuba and have reared puppies on it too. It suits my lot and is def better than Pedigree, which my lot have never been able to tolerate.

Kind Regards

I don't see it any different from other sponsorship, if you don't wish to give puppy owners the leaflets etc.. bin them...

I used to bin their insurance when I thought it was rubbish! :)

Don't see any problem with it.  All that happens as others have said it goes in the bin.  They can't satisfy everyone.

i thought dfs sponsered kc or is that just crufts? annoys me to see crufts sponsored by a sofa company! what do they know about dogs??
- By sam Date 20.02.11 18:19 UTC
but its the principle of the hypocrisy.....they want me to be a responsible breeder who produces carefully managed diet sheets (or book in my case!) and do the utmost best for my pup....yet they think its ok for me to give a voucher out for a food that my pups most likely are not fed on and isnt on their diet info sheet......and why? Because some company has paid them to do it :( All the wrong reasons in my book.

I believe the owner of DFS is a big Dally breeder/ exhibitor..... maybe very wrong though
- By kayc [gb] Date 20.02.11 18:43 UTC
The chairman of DFS Is a breeder/exhibitor and I think on a few canine committees, including one of the large Champ shows. and very heavily involved in the dog world

Sam,
If you dont want the vouchers ask people on here if they want them and send them to them.
Better than in the bin:)

I don't think it matter.  Before all the hooha it was pedigree sponsoring almost anything doggie, I now loathe to buy their stuff as they should change the name if the dog support pedi' dogs.  Another is as hood as any, the idea is get you to think about them, its  a choice.  if we never heard of things we wouldn't know.

As for DFS, I'm glad someone wants to support something a great deal of believe in, who care if its a furniture.  My girld are very happy on the sofa lol.  When i first the adverts, i wasn't sure if it was for Crufts or a nice sofa ad.  Kept thinking they were playing on it until i got there.

My youngest looked fab on that food.
