Hi
you could try applying something on the lead which is distastful suggest your local pet shop would have a product suitable.

If you are in the UK something like Leo Laboratories "Bitter Spray" sprayed on the lead would do the trick. It is only available from a vets I'm afraid but I would never be without it. It's good for anything a dog chews or licks, including open wounds!!! I keep some in my dog first aid box.

How about a light metal chain lead, they are not very nice to grab hold of and chew - HTH Julie:)

Sorry Julie, I hate them! apart from getting bits of skin pinched when I hold one whilst handling an owners dog in class, I have seen a puppie's tooth caught in a link and broken! I stear well clear of them!

Sorry guys! I never use them myself, it was just a thought, and I hadn't considered little teeth getting caught! So Ignore my post , I do apologise, case of fingers in gear without properly thinking it through - I won't delete it or else the thread will look really confusing. :o Julie:o

Dont worry Julie, I used one years ago. The thing is, I've been around longer than most so I've made more mistakes than most!!!! :d

Hi
My Willis does this - and because he's a Great Dane, its not funny!!
I've found if I stop rewarding him (i.e i stop walking till he stops biting - and then carry on) he soon learns.
Mind you, my Staffy drags me down the road (backwards) by hers...but I guess thats staffies for you!!
Cheers
Chloe
