I'm fed up of buying leads only to find they are not the best for me!

Its not quite as important to have a padded handle as a strong, soft, lead.  I have lost count of the chaffes, burns, nips I have had when my dog suddenly jerks.

I have just returned an ezydog as it was like using a bungee cord and quite dangerous when walking next to the road as there was too much give, allowing the dog to get too far ahead.

I saw some fleece covered leads at an agility meeting recently, but the salesman said they shouldnt be used for walking in general, which was a shame.

I dont know many dog walkers who only use the loop/handle when walking, most also have a hand on the lead bit to help control the dog, so does anyone know of a walker friendly lead?

We have the Halti lead.

Its quite wide, soft and you can clip it at different levels, and make a loop for a handle
we have bull terriers and was also sick of the burns from other smaller styles. These work for us.
we bought them from our dog trainer and they were £10.

Dogmatic non slip for me strong soft  and very flexible with a trigger hook on both ends, I manage GSD very well on these and also they are easily washed after our very muddy treks to the fields.

Halti leads here I alsop have a leather lead but still find it a bit stiff. Soft leather would be fine

It sounds to me like your dog's training is more the problem than the type of lead -why not use a headcollar?

Halti leads and head collars if necessary till they've learned to walk nicely on the lead.  Best lead i've ever had

I'm another vote for the halti lead. I must have 20 of them lying around the house and car as I keep buying them when at the cash and carry. It's a good length, very strong and lovely and soft and kind to the hands.

My husband is a dogwalker by trade. He discovered a company called Xtra Dog at Discover Dogs. They have leads which sound like the type you're looking for, they can be made different lengths and have a soft handle to hold. Have a look at their website www.xtradog.com. They also sell the fleece/webbing leads.

agree, Xtra Dogs are great--bought a fantastic seatbelt for my dog from them and will definitely go back to them again!

The xtradog "Double Ended Fleece Dog Training Lead" looks just like the halti lead....but it's £19.10!! Halti leads average around £6 -8, I buy mine form the C&C for £3 :-)

I use rolled leather leads, nice and soft, easy to hold and I've never had rope burn or similar from the lead. 

Hi, have you got a link for the halti lead? As the ones I've found online aren't the same as the Xtra Dog fleece ones.
