need some help i'm getting my staffy's eye tests booked tomorrow(phpv/ppsc) but was wondering what the procedure was to inform KC of results.
I know when hips are done they get sent to the BVA but what will I have to do. Also do you pay consultation fee on top of tests.

I will ask when I phone them tomorrow for appointment for nxt mth Just thought some one might know before I ring

I've actually never gone to a vet's surgery for eye tests, always do it at shows, much cheaper, so don't know about consultation fee. You need to bring the registration certificate, the microchip will be checked, the reg cert will be stamped and signed, there will be 3 copies of the test results; one for you, one for your vet, one for the KC, that is sent off by the vet.

when i had my sbt eye test i went to vets for blood test  paid the vet £40 for taking blood sample then i took samples to A.H.T (animal health trust)in newmarket as i only live half hour away. also i would  paid aproxx £70 each test but had both test done at the same time £120 can't remember how long had to await but received certifcates in the post (all clear), you can order swabs direct from www.aht.org.uk this give you all you need to know . and do swab yourself post them back in envolpe they provide so cuts out the middle man ie vets, i am sure they let KC know then you put you kc reg name or number into link on KC website and it give you information on the results. good luck

The vets that does it was on the list that I got at DD and its just up the road from me so as I don't drive I thought it would be easier thanks for the info

They said for both tests would be 45 pounds but was only checking if they did the tests I needed and that she would have them done once she turned 1yr old so didn't ask as she was not old enough.
Will ask when I book it tomorrow for next mth

Mine need different eye tests to yours, (PRA and HC) but I've always done them at the vets and never paid a consultation fee on top, just the advertsied test price.

I have done it at the vets ans you should only be paying the official fee, as that is the panelists fee.  The results is notified to the kennel c/bu automatically and you get a copy and one for your vet.

Think it depends on which Lab is used. When we had the Cardis Pra DNA test done at an Optigen Clinic they were not automatically sent to The Kennel Club.
Spoke to  Jeff Sampson yesterday at a Seminar and he said this was because Optigen do not automatically send the results to The Kennel Club to put on the health database, which is a bit annoying...!!!

The Optigen results only start going to KC automatically once it becomes an official KC scheme, after the breed clubs ask for it.

We have had this first tests done in October 2008, but not Official scheme until July 2009, so any older results had to be sent to the KC so they would be included on the list, some people still haven't sent theirs in in my breed.

The BVA/KC/ISDS scheme results all automatically go to the KC.

Just an update as have taken Tilly for her eye test today she is all clear and wasn't as bad as I imagined lol.
They were very friendly and very helpful thank you to all that replied to this thread you were bang on with the info as always thank you so much
