My bitch I have bred needs her puppy vaccs soon. My usual vet charges £48 for a three part course (vanguard) (third at 16weeks against parvo). The new vets which has openend is doing vaccs for £25 but its only a two course vaccine (nobivac) not the third parvo one at 16weeks.

Should I stick with my usual vets because they have the thrid or does the third actually matter?

I'd go from your usual vet, why does he give three?  Mine have never had three in over 20 years of owning and rarely breeding dogs.  A local vet near me does the 2 for similiar to your other one and Nobivac is the one that saved my Pom's, we were losing Pom's after vaccinations and when we were advised to use Nobivac that is when the problem ended.

Not heard of a third given as late as that since 1988!

i questioned my friend the other week for the dog having three.  i said it doesn't have that many.  You learn something every day.  i wouldn't go for the three so I'd change vets or ask them for the alternative.

Have always used Nobivac two course until about 18 months ago when my vet couldn't get his usual manufacturers due to some problem with supply.  I had one of my pups get the 3 jabs (don't remember the name of that manufacturer) but my vet is back to the usual now. 

So, whether you have 2 or 3 is irrelevant - as long as you are sticking to the same manufacturer for the pups course - they both cover for exactly the same thing.

The Nobivac has parvo included in the second jab.

Thanks Jean I will in that case go for the Nobivac 2 course vacc. As the pups mother had a reaction to the Vanguard. Reading reviews it seems quite a lot of toy breeds have problems with it so Nobivac it is.

Just noticed the price my vet charges £72.00 !! for the full course over 2 jabs how do they jsutify the difference in price I wonder
