Has anyone been on Liz Dunhills show training workshops  and do you know when the next one is ? - I thought there might be one in February ( before Crufts) but can't find any information !

There is, she seems to do all advertising on fb now. Seek her out and ask to be her friend fir more details or give her a bell. Not yet got to one myself but she was very helpful on the phone and net.

I'd hoped to go but the dates were not good for me, and I also felt that if I was going to invest £100 in the workshop (and all the travel, overnight stay etc) I needed to have some handling skills to start with, so have held back for now.

You don't say how experienced you are, so forgive me if I am suggesting something too basic, but have you seen that Dog World and Eukanuba are holding a day of dog showing workshops at Stoneleigh 26/02/2011? I'm not suggesting that this is a substitute, but it's free, there are lectures and practical sessions on grooming, handling. judging and nutrition and some of the top breeders/handlers/judges offering their expertise. I thought it sounded like a great offer.

You need to book tickets--ring Julie Hearsey on 01932 896867.

thanks for the replies folks- I've spoken to Liz today and am booked in on the 27th of this month -it sounds really interesting and hopefully will be useful with the problems I'm having with my young bitch

Yvonne would love it if you let me know afterwards how it went and what was done (club mag? Breed list? if not on here -or even privately, see you at shows no doubt) as I've been tempted to take one of mine at some point, but cannot make that weekend.

I have been to one of these workshops. Personally I found it very interesting but some of the other people attending felt they'd wasted their money. On the day I went there must have been about 20+ dogs, a mixture of big and small. I think that some went with the idea it would be more one-to-one but, although she does go over each dog with their handler, there is only so much time in the day.

What I found very interesting was how she could make a dog look completely different when she handled it! She really is a very good handler and knows her stuff.

I certainly came away with some good advice and have since made up my boy, so I think it was money well spent.
