I have a 3 year old german shepherd who stumbles occasionally.  It doesn't happen every day or even every week but has been happening since she was a puppy.  At around 6 months her hips were checked by the vet as she had quite a loose movement in her hind legs.  He just examined them by stretching her legs etc and said there was no problem.  Then the breeder told me this was common among her young dogs and as she has grown it has disappeared.   She doesn't appear to be in any pain and her movement now is graceful and flowing and most of all she loves to run. She stumbles on her front legs when walking on the lead and it seems to happen maybe every two or three days for a week or two and then goes away.  Do you think she is just a bit clumsy or should I be worried?

I think I'd get the vet to take a look and possibly a referal to a neurologist.

My dog will stumble on his front legs, he has elbow displasia, so his elbows don't have the range of movement that they should, occasionally (especially if he's concentrating on sniffing the floor as hes walking), he wont pick his foot up enough & will stumble.

Worth a vet check to see if the front legs are OK.

Thanks I'll get her checked out.  As it doesn't happen all the time I tend to forget about it until it starts again.
