Hi

Need some advice please.  I have my kits from Idexx ready to go.  Due to work and where my vet is I have spoken to a local vet to ask if they could take the blood only to be told that the blood would have to sit for half an hour and then be spun.  Is this correct?  Also which address is Larry at, the address on the envelopes that I have received is up north.

Thank you in advance.

Not in my experience. I take the kit along to my Vet, they take the blood and hand it back to me there and then for me to put in the post in the envelope supplied (and yes the address is up North - Wetherby, W. Yorkshire).

They may be getting mixed up with the in-house pre-mate test?

Larry is at Wetherby and I have always sent the whole blood in the tubes provided by Idexx.

Thank you for your replies.  Will now just ask the vet to take the blood and not worry about anything else.  If its wrong its my fault!!!

Hi

When using Idexx my vet puts whole blood in the test tube supplied by Idexx and also gives me a spun down sample in a test tube to send with it.  Reason behind this is the whole blood doesn't "keep" as well if sample delayed in transit, therefore I always send both types. Don't know which one Idexx use but they have the choice!

I always send by Royal Mail before 9 a.m. delivery service to be sure it arrives on time. Worth the extra expense, especially if sent to arrive on a Saturday morning.

No it doesn't have to be, I've just had blood taken and sent it off.

My vet always spins it for me BUT you can ask for them not to spin it as you are generally sending it for next day it should be OK.
