Hi been on a few times now.. Got new puppy bout 15th dec but poor soul been in vets since with parvo!.. but little bliter a fighter and got through it all and is home now YIPEE! :) He's a GSD pup about 11 weeks now and has suddenly got an appetite for his own pooh! yuk. really worried as pooh is now all normal & parvo has been treated so no longer in him with very hard effert from vets (nearly lost poor little Otto at one point) but not sure why he is eating his mess.. He is on a diet provided by the vets due to his stomach been rather tender but dont know how to avoid this habit before it gets him ill again... Can keep an eye on him through the day to try an catch him having his business & removing it b4 he eats it but when he is in bed on a night & we have all retired any advice on how I can try & discourage him from doing this ?Any advice Please????
P.S He is an absoulute darling and has fought through so much poor soul he is here for some reason I think.:) Thanks

I know it doesn't sound attractive but there was a recent discussion on this topic "eating own pooh", so if you do the search you should find some useful info.Pleased to hear Otto is on the mend!

lucky you--to get through parvo at this age is a miracle :D as for the poo eating, his stomach might still be upside down, or it might be something hed do anyhow, -can i ask if hed had his vacciations,????

Hi Catsie,

Read my recent responses in Puppy eating poo. I think we may have cracked it by buying 'deter' tablets from the pet shop - she hasn't done it for two nights now. We tried pineapple which didn't work.
It's nice to know we're not alone in this!!!

hi thanks for replies...unfortunatly little Otto didnt get his injections yet as he was really really poorly with the Parvo and he hadnt had his first injection off the breeder so we are having to wait til his stomach & immune system are back to norm... we are lookin at the new year for his first one... he's back at the vets tomorrow morn so we'll get some advice off him too.. will look through other posts to find out some info. ta. will let you know the progress :)
