My Border when out at lunch time, seems to have cold tail.
She's happy enough running down the fields, should i take her to the vets or just leave it and see how it goes?

This happened to  my bitch, trip to the vets antiinflammatory shot and she was right as rain the next day. I brought her to be examined just for peace of  mind incase she had damaged her tail.

can take around 2 wks to clear up usually a pain killer such as metacam can give pain relief.
Has she been in cold water?

Have given her some metacam, no shes hasnt been in water, just came back from the walk through the woods, and her tail was hanging!

Stick with the pain killers and dead tail usually rights itself in a day. It is a very painful condition for the poor dog.

Oh dear i know its a pain as i have a young dog who suffers from "dead tail" but only when i bath him  i think the power of the shower near his bum is maybe the cause so now shower is on very lightly round that area hardly touching his bum and as soon as finished dry as quickly as poss
Touch wood that seems to work but as i said does nt happen when he goes swimming
STRANGE!!!1

Just seen this and i remembered my girl had this, didn't know at the time.  Took to ex vets who said her tail was and i should have it removed straight away.  he was pulling it from insde her bottom, afterwards i thought he was truing to snap it.  Was told it wll get infected and alsorts.

i can away dumbfounded and didn't book her in.  By the time i got home it was wagging.

So glad i saw this now I know what was wrong.  All those years. lol.

Glad recovered.

Our Lab has had it a few times, but he does have a tendency to jump into freezing cold water troughs daily... Who said Lab's were brainy?? lol.. This one clearly has the 'stupid' gene :-P Plus he hates the bath and shower but loves any other body of water.
