As from the start of this year she no longer does the hip scoring.
How can that be , i know two people that are booked in next week?

I also know of someone going very soon....

there's already a discussion on here saying she's still doing it with her no. on, just do a search of her name

I know of several people who tried to book before Christmas for the new year and were told she was retiring and would no longer be doing it. Things have obviously changed then, thank goodness as I didn't fancy a trek up to Cheshire.

I know of someone who went last week.
Just hope she carries on for a while longer - need to take one of mine in May

Hope I don't get hung, drawn & quartered for divulging this but she won't get clients unless you know the number: it's 01329 230052. Before 5pm only and she is making appointments for Feb. I know because I have one.

Thank you, I've just made an appointment too :-) Have you been before? I'm just wondering what the set up there is, I've been told she's not actually a vet.... I've been going on everyone's recommendations, but thought I should get some clarification now that my dog's booked in and is going to be sedated by someone!!!

A vet works with Marilyn and he administers the sedative. M is the radiographer. The previous, elderly lady vet has retired from this work.
I haven't been myself but half of the canine owning population seems to go there, some travelling long distances, so that in itself speaks volumes. I'm sure people don't compromise safety for cheapness. Someone has told me they go because it is cheap. I am going because it is near enough to get my girl home and tucked up in bed to fully recover within half an hour and because M is recommended for getting good plates and giving a fairly accurate estimate of results at the time. Price doesn't come in it for me. I'm glad you are getting your appointments now. Let's hope all our dogs have good hips & elbows.

Thank you. It's an 8 hour round trip for me, so any saving will be eaten up by petrol costs!! I've heard sooooo many people recommend her, it's only now I've booked that I realise I need to do my homework (as I would for anything dog-related). From all the detailed accounts I've had today, sounds like there's nothing to worry about... although I will worry about the sedation, as I'm sure it's not entirely without risks.
Hope this reassures you, I have had 3 of mine hip scored ( 2 under general, which I would never do again!) They are brilliant at doing it under sedation. If it is still at the same place then the owner (imo) is brisk and very organised ( don't be frightened, she's lovely) They are totally clued up on what they are doing and I will be having my lad done there. Make sure you have your paperwork to hand. They do not tell you what score to expect but will show you the plates and you will get an idea of what to expect.
My scores were on the KC website before I had receievd my paperwork back.
The amount of people that use these premises should speak volumes, for me it was the expertise not the cost.
Hope it all goes well.

There you go Clare, think my FB post to you was almost identical to GRets :-)
If you do head down this way it would be lovely to meet your boy, show him off and I can get to see some of KayC's breeding in the flesh then :-)

I went with my other aussie she is very good. Toffee moved on his first x-ray so she wasn't happy and redid that one. We got a score of 3-2 and 0-0 which we where very happy with and it comes down to how the legs are placed. Afterwards we when to the pub round the corner for a meal and he was sitting beside us he came round so quick.
