last year i had a pretty garden, plants, tidy borders, green lawn.  this year i have two big dogs chasing around instead.  no grass left, no plants.  i am looking for ideas on how to cover the garden in a dog friendly way.  i have asked artificial lawn companies for quotes, i dont like the idea of concrete/patio slabs, thinking of making a grit path.   anyone have ideas?

Gravel ? if your gardens not to big it could look rather nice with raised borders.

My auntie, who has four dogs, has her garden done in artificial grass.  It looks fantastic, its soft (the dogs love sleeping on it) and its easy to pick the poo up.  If I could afford it, I would have the same done without a doubt.

Gravel is not good for picking up dog poo, especially if the the poo is a bit loose.  You end up losing quite a bit of gravel over time.  I have cats as well as dogs and have found tiles to be the most practical for me.  Not sure about artificial grass.  If the dog poos on it, it would surely mean hosing it down each time you clear up?

artificial grass would cost me a fortune...rather have proper grass and fence it off so the dogs cant wreck it and have thier own area to play in...then go on the grass on your terms!

I love my fake grass :-)  It looks great all year round, the dogs love to play on it, any poos are very easily picked up, even soft ones. It does need disinfecting to stop it smelling, but this doesn't take any longer than cutting conventional grass.

It was expensive, but it's been down for 3 years and still looks as good as new. I hope it's going to last a very, very long time.

And the guy from the trade fares we have been to say that it stops the likes of Huskys digging out ;) :) :) :)

Artificial lawn are at Crufts this year aswell, so thats a good chance to have a look at what theyve got:)

They supply the green at crufts for the main ring  :)
They are always there.
So yes, if you can wait that long and going to crufts then look for their trade stand there :)

Think B & Q sell artificial grass.......

Just ask for a sample if you look at the B&Q one as there are so many grades.....
I know the one that the local builders merchant sells is near enough the equivalent of astro turf(nothing like turf)!!!! I may me wrong but the local builders merchant sells stuff I wouldnt lay to look like turf and they know that and fully agree (the merchant I use alot!!!!)
So get a sample whatever the price or what you think it looks like online :)
