hi, just want to know about anybodys experience with a 1st season
have a 1st bitch to be a foundation for our future breeding programme. We have a male and when she came into season on the 27th november they where seperated. she bled for about 10 days and then was swollen until day 35 (very swollen). this swelling has gone down but the vulva has not gone back up properly and she is still soft, it is now 2 months since she came into season they were seperated for 5 weeks and when re introduced he didn't take the slightest notice of her, she has 2 sets of teats dangling but no milk or hardness, she also has 2 or 3 drips of white discharge a day (that i notice). her appetite hasn't change, her behaviour has changed slightly....she has started snapping at our males face, but not our older spayed bigger dog. she isn't drinking abnormally and hasn't gained any weight.
any thoughts? could she be having a phantom? and how long after a season does the vulva return to a tight state?
thanks

It sounds like she may be going to have a phantom...she would be around 7 weeks in whelp had she been mated. I recommend giving her some Garlick & Fenugrek(from Dorwest) to get rid of any possible milk asap.

Sophie's first season was very heavy and her vulva never went right back however she did stay tight with her undercarriage and she never had a discharge in- fact non of our bitches have, so I agree it does sound like Phantom.

agree with lexi, increase excercise if possible too.
