Hi,
My friends girl had 4 pups on tuesday, 3 are going great guns piling on he weight etc.
Little girl has pneumonia, caused by her breathing in some of the fluid in the sack...shes very raspy and is blowing bubbles out of her nose.
She has been to the vet who gave her a steroid injection, antibiotic injection(Synulux) and is on antibiotics at home (synulux).
He also advised supplement feeding, this has been tried but the pup gets very distressed so the owner stops and wont do it anymore.
What is the survival rate of new born pups with pneumonia or would it be kinder to PTS, my friend simply doesnt know what to do.
Shes back to the vets at 4pm today, but any help would be great.

JMO if the pneumonia is caused by the intake of milk because of a malformed pallet then I would consider PTS but if it is a birth accident it may well be worth giving it a go they are surprisingly strong and resilient.

Aspiration Pneumonia can be a side effect of Canine Megaesophagus. In certain breeds it is known to be inherited but there can be other birth defects to cause it.
