this makes me feel sick and i just want to cry thinking about what those poor rotties must have gone through.  i know its awful but just think how the owner must be feeling,  mistakes happen,  what a tradgity !

We were having this discussion on another board, landrover owners were saying that it could happen. Landrovers are noisy and have huge blind spots and they can easily pull a horse box and you don't notice it, so I do believe it was a tragic accident :(

Of course it was a tragic accident, I remember hearing about this before several years back with a lady with a couple of spaniels. It says on the article that one owner tied them and the other was driving, probably nipped out in the car without telling Husband or Wife, and the dogs were snoozing behind the car. Terrible accidents happen all the time, people have run over ther own children because of blind spots in mirrors.

This is really upsetting. Those poor dogs and their poor owners.
It has to be an accident because if you were going to kill your dogs you would find a far more efficient and less public way of doing it.
The owners must be so upset and feeling very guilty. Accidents happen and apportioning blame will achieve nothing. My old landrover was so loud that you struggled to hold a conversation in it, so I can see how it could happen.

What is just as upsetting are the moronic comments posted beneath the article. Do people really believe the tripe that they write?

poor dogs, reading it im sure it would of been an acident (allthough advoidable), prehaps the driver was in a rush and just didnt check mirrors befor driving off so didnt know the dog had been tied there.
the owner must feel terrible.

I read that the wife had tied them on and the hubby had drove the car home not realising.  What a sad end and I feel terrible for the owners too.  Having to live with yourself after that can't be easy.

It's horrible isn't it. Those poor, poor dogs :( The owners must be devestated - having to live with doing that :( :(

Tragic accident :(

Only just seen the comments, they are sad. A family have just lost thier dogs in a very traumatic accident and all some people can come up with is breed-hate :( :(

I could hardly bring myself to click on the link. How awful, totally an accident, but those poor dogs and the poor people. It makes me feel sick imagining how they must have felt when they realised what had happened. :-(

I am gobsmacked at the disgusting comments written under that!! Personally i only know 2 rotties, and they are one of the most loving, fun dogs i have ever met!!! Poor poor babies, their owners must be distraught!!!

The same thing happened in the north of scotland last year, very sad.

The comments written under the article are shocking and people have jumped on the all Rotties are killing machines bandwagon (incidently the ones I know are all as soft as butter).... as if the breed of dog made a difference to what happened?

This is a tragic accident and one that could happen so easily. We regularly attach our dogs to the ball hitch of our 4 x 4 when out point to point racing or sitting at the back of the vehicle having a picnic etc etc.

For people to say that the owners should be jailed / banned from keeping pets is disgraceful - they are going to have to live with this forever more which in my opinion is plenty enough, if they wanted to kill their own dogs I doubt they would have chosen this method....

Condolences to those involved in this tragic accident.

The Argus have a funny way of reporting articles and they often come across very differently to actual reality.

Those dogs died in a set of tragic circumstances. What happened was an accident and I do very much feel for the poor owners..

As for the comments added by others at the bottom, this happens regulary on many subjects and it generally goes beyond the pale for me personally and i've not read the comments on this article due to the fact that it would probably wind me up and already some poster on here has mentioned that the anti Rottie brigade has jumped onto it.... People need to have some compassion....

RIP Rotties and my thoughts are with the owners who i'm sure will probably be finding this a very difficult time..
