Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / My girl is absolutely ravenous!

The title says it all really, my girl was mated new years day and 2 days later, so she should be anywhere from 2-2.5wks in whelp. She is currently fed on RC ht 42d and has been for over 4 weeks now. She is at a lovely weight at the moment and although she is generally quite greedy the last week she has been really bad.
Ive never known her guard anything, at all, yet now she has started to guard the food bin from my old GSD. I have caught her a few times over the last few days pushing herself in front of Lady (GSD) and growling if Lady happens to walk past the food bin. One of these times she actually snapped at her and got her on the muzzle :-( It is now well out of the way.
This afternoon I made my son his lunch (sandwiches) and put them on his high chair while I went to pick him up to put him in and she jumped up and and stole one of them!

I have to admit it was quite funny, especially since she would never dream of doing anything like this any other time. I can leave biscuits on our coffee table opened and my 2 would never touch them. I never told her off, in fact I feel quite sorry for her, she seems starving. She quite obviously isn't as she is still the same weight she was a month ago but its really hard not to be tempted to put her food up already.
I know I really shouldn't put it up as she could very quickly get fat so do I just leave her?

Has anyone else ever had this with their bitches? What did you do?

Someone please help me lol....shes laid in the kitchen crying. Theres no food around but we have just cooked tea so she can obviously still smell something. I really feel for her, but what can I do? Is there anything I could give her that would fill her more or satisfy her more without putting weight on her?
Thanks Amy

you could maybe reduce the RC and add some protein food ie mince or chicken as it is more filling in the stomach and add some veg as WL has suggested.
Have you  wormed her before the mating?

Do you mean chicken as in chicken wings etc. raw?
I think I will give that a go, thanks

Yeah I wormed and frontlined her a couple of days before she came into season,I did her with panacur granules. She will also be started on day 40 with panacur 10% suspension.
Thank guys, I really hope this stops her crying, poor girl

you could give her raw chicken wings as long as she is used to them , otherwise you will have to go careful as  you wont want to give her the runs along with it. I would give cooked chicken and mince....I am not a raw feeder so I hope some others who do raw feed can advise more on that.
