Hi,

I've got a litter of small breed puppies there 3 weeks old now I've started to wean them on today and the food is applaws puppy dry food the problem is I've soaked it in hot water to try make it in to a sort of porridge for puppies to lap on to the problem is the applaws food will not go soft and stays solid even if I add more hot water it doesn't work any suggestions on what I can try I just bought the bag today and I don't want to feel like I wasted my money when I can't even use it thanks

How long have you soaked it for and did you cover the food to keep the steaming.

With some foods you need a couple of hours at least.

Do not add milk to the food until after is has been mashed as it will not soak.

Never used that food, but the Arden Grange puppy soaks easily as does Autarky puppy, James Wellbeloved puppy, Vitalin puppy etc.

As Applaws doen't contain cereals or grains and is mainly meat based it will not soak as easily.  Try putting the kibble in a blender and grinding it up then adding to hot water to make a porridge for the puppies.  Can add goats milk to make a looser mix.  Hope this helps
