Its manic here again today! she will not stop humping my other bitch (who is trying to blend in with the furniture!) more bloods tomorrow at 8 am - if we get the go ahead we'll be off tomorrow afternoon!

As we've not heard from you today, I'm guessing you went back to the stud?!  How did it go?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.01.11 21:15 UTC
Just waht I was thinking.  I woudl expect they had another mating, but I wonder what the premate kit said?.

Went back to the stud 2 days later - he was more interested and the bloods said she was ready but he never seems to 'hit' bullseye despite her being very still and allowing him.
Went back again today - he was more eager - but the same thing,he gets up and the odd time w have thought he was in her as we saw faster thrusting, but then he would jump down - although once it did seem he was very wet and drippy at the end - but I have no idea if this would be a slip mating ? he did seem exhauseted after.
So I dont think we'll be having pups this time! :-(

Did the bloods say she was just ovulating or that she had already ovulated.

You have up to 4 days after ovulation for fertilisation so I wouldn't be giving up until Saturday if she ovulated Tuesday.

I'd certainly be going up again Saturday, and hope that there was something left from the first mating and the slip you had today.

The occasional male will mate a bitch as soon as he sees her if she will stand (due to excitement or just to be sure he has her) and then not be interested again until optimum fertility (two to three days after ovulation).

Stud owners are away now :-(
Do you think it was a slip mating ? this was our first time at stud and I want sure if there would be more 'dripping' out if it was a slip mating.
He was never very good at hitting the target,we were lucky with the tie we had Sunday, think it was a Fluke

When are they away until, surely they would have expected his services might be needed now?

How experienced is the stud and what is his usual MO?

Can you not meet them by Sunday?

If she was only just ovulating Wednesday then you still would have a chance to catch her up to then.

A slip mating is where ejac*lation occurs but there is no tie.  Now with a tie you know there has been ejac*lation, and the tie causes a vacuum which helps to get the sperm where needed.

With a slip mating you don't know if this has occurred, but usually it is during the 'stair climbing' type more rapid thrusting that it occurs,a d most people say if the intimate contact has been for a minute or so that enough of a deposit may have been made.

On the other hand the briefest of slip matings have occasionally produced puppies.

The thrusting was 30 secs at best :-( he just dosent seem to be getting where he needs to be despite being very interested, and loses interest very quick and seems knackered! its a 450 mile round trip

To be honest once your this close the distance should not be an issue as your would expect to travel at least twice more if needed.

This is why I prefer to have the bitch stay with the stud dog.

How experienced are the stud dog owners, as if he is a bit hit and miss and tends to slips they should be assisting/holding him in place.

Are we talking the 'stair climbing' or simply the finding the spot.

I would be making every effort to try again Friday and over weekend based on your premate test :(  The mating needs to be supervised and dog "assisted" to hit the right spot if necassary. This is the responsability of the stud owner but if they are inexperienced is there anyone local who would assist ????  Its easy when you know how but can be a nightmare if you don't -- had more than one or two calls to help novice stud owners  !!   I do hope you get your girl mated after all the effort you have made thus far :(

From what you have said it doesn't really sound like a slip matting to me, I class a slip where dog is clearly entered, thrusted vigorously but tie hasn't formed and stud holder held dog on bitch for as long as possible. An excited male will drip fluid as ejaculate contains three fractions .. first to fush pipes, second sperm rich and third to assist sperm being flushed to / thorugh cervix at the neck of uterus.

If it helps i can say what i experienced yesterday.  Mine seemed to go early yesterday, in the morning they were having a go, wouldn't, let me help, it stopped them. wasn't too worried as i didn't think they were quite there. let me interviene so i supervised.  I just they were flirting and practicing.  it looked like he was getting there, then she'd tell him to bog off.  Like you, I wasn't too sure if he'd 'been in' but they were both sticky (yeuk lol), she had it down her so i presumed he'd missed.

Last night, he got quite adament he was having it and she appeared to tease and let him.  Next thing, still on top of her it looked like her was in, it looked differnt.  I think he was staying there but my girl had other ideas.  Glad its been reinforced to stay very close as I needed to help him turn when she tried to turn and poll away.  It could have been troublesome.  Half hour i was there, with c**p on the telly and no remote near me.  It was a lot drier at the back afterwards.
