Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Kennel Club Groups?

Hello everyone. It's not often I come over onto this board as I don't show, but would love to start getting involved once my 5 mth old daughter is a little bit older so I have been doing a bit more research of the lines in my breed.
Last night I found an article of one of the grandparents of one of my dogs that said "4 CC's and 4 BOB's in groups 2 and 4". This has confused me as my breed is a working breed so what does "groups 2 and 4" mean ?  I was out of dogs for a long time so is my poor, old, tired brain playing tricks on me or do I remember something a long time ago that the groups were re-catergorized and could this be before that. Can anybody shed any light on this for me.

It probably means they achieved group 2 and 4 which means they have been placed 2nd and 4th in the group. The group system has always been the same in the UK, with the addition of the Pastoral group a while back. However I believe the FCI number the groups.

The breeds of dogs are split into 7 groups Hounds, Gundogs, Toys, Terriers, Utility, Working & Pastoral. When a breed has won BOB/NSC it goes into its group to challenge for 4 places.
Hope this helps

The thing that causes most confusion is that in a class the placed exhibits are called - first, second, third, reserve & VHC but in the Group the are Winner, reserve, group 3 & group4 - some people call the Group reserve group 2 which can cause confusion.
