Does anyone have any recommendations for vets that do the usual BVA eye tests and the gonioscopy one?

My usual vet doesnt do it and from what ive seen most eye tests at shows dont have the facilities for the gonio.

I am prepared to travel so Yorks/Lincs/Notts area please.

There is one at Stamford. There is also a list of the panel of eye specialists which I can look for later if someone has not already sorted it for you.

Hi Dude Dog, have you seen the post somewhere else on this site about BVA/KC/ISDS Canine Health Testing Dates that was up a couple of days ago? There is a Facebook page where people are listing club shows etc where tests are being offered--maybe this of use to you?

You could try Minster Vets at Southwell Notts, they do eye testing but not sure of gonio. They have just opened another branch in Newark.

Here is the list of eye panel specialists (the ones who do the eye tests for the BVA/KC) http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/2645

Prof Pontefract is the one at Stanford.

Don't think the FB site likes you askng it's more for people to post any details on ones that are happening.

Thanks for the help everyone. I called Minster at Southwell and they only do the usual BVA not the gonio.

We are now booked in with R. Pontefract at Stamford who were very helpful on the phone.

Thank god for champdogs as its much more of a minefield than hip xrays.

Hi We don't mind people posting to ask where to find health testing, or what is involved in health testing, but as the group is just setting up we thought it might be better until it is established to ask members when an invite to an event is sent out to just say no with out leaving a message to say they can't attend. It is a question of having room. Anyone can ask anything they like so long as it is health related on the group page.

We had the misfortune of going to him for our first lot of Eye Tests.....Never again...We found him rude, arrogant and obnoxious and he was very rough handling the dogs.Plus he also charged extra for the eye drops needed to numb the eyes. The second lot of tests we had done by Mrs Cotrerill at Cambridge Vet School. She was much better, she put the dogs at ease, was gentle when handling them and was much more thorough, well worth the extra few miles drive.

Are you talking of Pontefract at Stamford? Don't think you can be as he does not use drops and is charming.

Think if you are going to make such statements you should make it clear who you are talking of or you could finish up with a load of solicitors letters, best if you have a genuine complaint to make it to the BVA

Yes he does use eye drops (Tears Naturale was used on all 4 dogs) as I have the bill right here in front of me.
Plus a formal complaint was made to both KC and the BVA and to his face.

He did not use it on mine and I found him charming just goes to show how things can seem different to different people. He asked me to sit my hounds at the end of the table then he switched of the lights and said boo to them and checked the eyes, I did ask about the drops because I had always had them before and he said the hounds opened there eyes wide  and the pupil dilated when you spoke close to them and he was able to check before they returned to normal, he did not use drops and he did not touch any of my hounds.
