Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / bottle feeding I feel so ashamed.

Hi I am bottle feeding a litter of toy puppies and feed them every three hours. Wednesday night I was up alnight making food for my Nanas funeral and was tired in the day time. Last night when I finally went to sleep about 1.30, after feeding them and setting my alarm for 2.50 to get up for the next feed. I woke up at 5.40. I had slept through the alarm and the puppies whining. They were starving. I felt so ashamed. Will the incident be likely to harm them? They dont seem to have lost any weight yet.

hey, dont beat yourself up over it :-) what a terrible time you must be having :-( i doubt a few hours would have done any damage to the babies though

Bless you don't panic, I'm sure they are fine now. Have you got any friends who could do a couple of feeds to let you get some sleep? You must be exhausted!

Don't upset yourself, you can't fit it all in.  I'm sure the pups came to no harm and made up for it in the daytime.

You need rest as well to enjoy your babies.  Hope things improve for you soon.

Hope you find someone to help you out with some of the feeds even if it is during the day - you need to get some sleep as well ()

With what you have been through lately, you have done yourself proud to get them this far - so quit the guilt trip ok!!

Auntie Jean being stern here.  :-)

I am sure the pups have already forgotten about it.  You need to remind yourself that you need a pat on the back.  Grit your teeth, as things will get better - honestly!  :-)

Keep up the good work.

Jean

Be kind to yourself :) as others have said they may have felt a bit peckish at the time but as soon as they had their fill they probably went off to dream doggy things :0

You're doing good, be proud.

i think you are doing a great job. my friend had to hand rear 3 pups while having a newborn baby. she lost 2 and was devastated but managed to save one. i think if you have got past 2 weeks you are doing fab.. Be proud x

if you were feeding special puppy milk it is much richer than mums milk and they usually only need feeding 4 hourly anyway
