Right here goes..
After seeing ClaireyS go on about attending these and then another person locally doing them with their dogs I have been pointed in the right direction.
I have entered, have printed off my barcode and me and Kai are doing a run tomorrow morning

Having not run in months this is going to hurt, but I will take my time if needs be, but will complete it :-)
Iphone, water, poop bags and the dog :-D
Ooh here is the link for anyone and its free

We will be team Black and Tan, with a go faster white stipe ;-)

LOL - sadly I'm busy in the morning - but do fancy it! and setters don't do straight lines!

Look missy i'm not listening to any more excuses.. OK!!??
Bernese aren't what you call fast either, lol.. Steady pace and a leg cock up this tree, ooh thats a new tree - pulled over there to that one too.. I'll have a dump here now.. lol..
See somewhat entertaining when you run with a Bern..and his not so Go Faster White Stripe.

we would be good company yes - must go to that tree - oh sniff over there !!!
I will have a go but really can't tomorrow - I'm going to try and get Jess to have a go too! She is a good runner but doens't do enough!

Thats fine, next time ;-)
I'll see you tomorrow afternoon for a relaxing walk :-P

Is that you two or the dogs stopping for a sniff and "other things " ?
>After seeing ClaireyS go on about attending these
sorry, do I go on

;)
Lol, you will have great fun, just dont make the mistake I did on my first run and run with 3 dogs, slip over, smash your knee up get dragged down the path on your back and not beable to run for another 4 weeks !!!
These days I only run with more than one in proper canix events ;)

Hun only in a good way. Makes me envious of you.. I think we'll be ok tomorrow, i'm more worried about me than Kai doing this. He's come out jogging with me a number of times and is pretty good and will go for some time.. BUT once i've got my fitness back up and running i'll
need a dog which is more suitable to longer distances for things like Canix and Bikejoring...
>BUT once i've got my fitness back up and running i'll need a dog which is more suitable to longer distances for things like Canix and Bikejoring...
Thats how I ended up with my Kelpie

The Setter boys are great for canix but lack the combined speed and stamina required for bikejoring !
Park runs are great, im going to do our local one tomorrow, I havent done any running since the santa run at the beginning of December ...... put on over half a stone over xmas too so dont think I will be breaking any records tomorrow lol ;)

The other lady who is running tomorrow will have her brains fried as she has Rotties and does all of this, so will be seeing how sensible a dog they are for these activities.. As well as sharing my home and showing or course ;-)

Pssst, I won't be updating times but will let you know if I managed to complete it or not..
> dont think I will be breaking any records tomorrow lol
You do so much that I doubt a few weeks off will be of much consequence, i've had about 6 months off

Its ok, I doubt I will updating on times tomorrow either, its not my lack of training but my drastic weight gain, Jacks got alot to pull tomorrow .... he might need a setter friend to help

I recognise the girl with the Rottie, she runs with Cani-cross trailrunners. I think ive seen her at one Canix event a couple of years ago.

Sue
you can borrow one of my pointy eared creatures!

If you lived closer to me I would let you have my black'n'tan boy. It would hopefully tire him out!
Can the caniX belts be used for normal dog walking so I could walk hands free (thinking of my staff rather than the big boy)

Do you have to be able to run or can plodders go to these events? THere are three parks not that far from me doing this.

I think you'd need to ask ClaireyS but i'd of thought that what ever your level of fitness you'd be most welcome :-)
As for CaniX equipment being used for normal walks I have no idea CC, I don't own any myself, again Claire should be able to offer advice on that. Thanks for the offer of your black and tan, again 400 odd miles is a tad too far to come to borrow a dog :-), I've been offered dogs all over the shop on fb since saying I need a dog with more running stamina, walking is fine for my lot, but jogging isn't..
I never got to the ParkRun as I had a bad nights sleep and just couldn't stomach running at 9am. However I did end up going for a jog near mine with one of the dogs, he however didn't last the duration, I was gagging to keep going, but I had to do a slooooww walk home with him.. But only a few hours later he was bouncing and running around with RachelSetter's boys in our fields.
The girl who runs hers Rotts who ClaireyS has seen has told me that hers can manage 1/2 marathon's :-D... I know what I have to work towards then ;-)

my setter boys did the half marathon a couple of years ago, unfortunately due to having my little one we havent done it since but im hoping to do it this May.

Yes, of course. For walking, and especially with a smaller dog I think one of these would be ok
http://www.kisi.co.uk/walkingbelts.php I used to use one for running but with 2 30Kg dogs pulling hard against it I found it cut into my ribs, it also pulls on the wrong bit of you if you are running, and affects your running style. I use this one
https://www.canix.co.uk/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=16 alot more expensive but it sits on your hips which is much better for running, I couldn't believe the difference when I changed to it.

Thanks Claire, the first link looks great but the second one brought tears to my eyes. that contraption looks like something from a fetish shop! I will more into the first ones. It would be so much easier to manage my rott boys 'quirks' if I didn't have both my hands full.
>that contraption looks like something from a fetish shop!
lol :) ive never thought of it like that, I have however heard it referred to as the "Rolls Royce" of running belts !! You would be fine with one from the first link though :)
