> when shes awake shes not quite with me

Definitely sounds right to me.  I often look into their eyes and I'm sure they're on another planet.  (or had a spliff!)  :-)  :-)  :-)

I agree that it's the pain.  This is when I feel so sorry for them, and know it's my fault they're like it!  The licking is stress, so yes, the pain is getting to her.

I bet that she has had enough by now, poor girl.  If she hasn't started by this afternoon, may be worth a vet check?

You never know Jo , my girl ate her dinner and produced a pup 30 mins later , she even ate between pups being born so don't give up hope yet. Mind you it would be nice if she waited til the morning and had a daytime litter. Fingers crossed x
- By SharonM Date 03.01.11 17:25 UTC
My girl ate a full dinner of complete and then went on to have a dish of raw chicken/tripe......in between pups 5 & 6
- By lucysmith [gb] Date 03.01.11 17:27 UTC
Ha ha , don't you love these bitches that haven't read the books !
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 03.01.11 17:48 UTC
Yes, Ellie has eaten right up till a few hours before birth with both litters.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 03.01.11 17:54 UTC
:) well just took her temp its 37.5 so not low enough yet but i carnt go by that lol ive only took it for the 1st time last night it was 38 so im think i need a temp drop of around 37 or lower? and for it to stay like that for 6h or more? lol i feel like she will never have the pups now :( xxx
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 03.01.11 19:02 UTC
when my bitches temp is around 38 during pregnancy she drops to 36.5 before whelping, but to be honest she kind of feels colder anyway so don't really need to take the temp. Good luck though hope things go smoothly for you.... my little singleton is now 3.5 weeks old and has been a complete nightmare, but at least he is here now and fighting fit :-)
- By claudia [gb] Date 03.01.11 19:24 UTC

- By white lilly [gb] Date 03.01.11 21:39 UTC

thanks reikiangel xxx
- By MsTemeraire Date 03.01.11 21:42 UTC
It's a full degree down from this afternoon.. isn't that an indicator...? or does it have to stay down?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 03.01.11 21:45 UTC
it has to stay down now for over 6h i think ,god im so tired i carnt think stright any more and thats before pups come lol xxx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.01.11 00:04 UTC
ok ive been thinking ???? do i take her date from progesrone or day of mating she would of ovualted the 3rd nov she was mated the 5th nov so that makes her day 63 from ovulation today or 61 from mateing ???????? ]
im starting to drive myself mad !!!
xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.01.11 08:57 UTC
shes kept me up again, just moveing from box to floor shreading her paper she been sick and seems so differnt today her tum is making some very strange noises bubbleing and gurguling got it wrong shes day 62 from ovulation and day 61 from mateing might have her checked by vet later xx
- By Zajak [gb] Date 04.01.11 09:04 UTC
I take from ovulation as its more accurate (63 days give or take a day or so).  Some people don't know when their bitch ovulates so they have no choice but to go by mating.  I had to go by mating with my first bitch and she was 5 days early which nearly caught me out, taught me a lesson for future litters!  Good luck Whitelilly, hope your girlie starts soon for both your sakes.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.01.11 09:32 UTC
this is the 1st time ive used progesrone tests on any of my girls ,and all have gone early ,even her sister went 5 days early with very small litter of 3 ,this girl looks like shes haveing 8-10 so i epxpected her to be early so was looking at every sign she was showing and thinking this is it :(
so will have to see how today goes ,shes not eating tho and not drink her water ,her face looks thinner, she looks like shes lost so much weight shes not been eating well now for about 8 days, plus since i started worming her from day 40 her poo has been very soft i will be glad when i can stop the wormer ,shes only been eating chicken and this makes her poo softer :(
thankyou Zajak xxx
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 04.01.11 10:48 UTC
She might last until tomorrow (day 63) but could go early, sounds like they're getting ready.  How exciting.

I've always been told take it from ovulation day, they apparrently don't go a day over, that doesn't help if fertalised later lol.

Good luck and hope you get some rest or she does a daytime litter for you.  Give her a pep talk.

Hugs to your girl. xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.01.11 12:23 UTC

- By kizziecat [gb] Date 04.01.11 19:03 UTC
been following this topic with interest, really feeling for you, you must be exhausted and that's before the pups arrive lol.

Really hope things move along and you get your little bundles of joy sooner rather than later, hope mum is ok too, one of our friends has a staff that had puppies and she lost so much weight she looked emaciated(sp) she picked up tho once she stopped feeding them.

fingers crossed for a safe delivery xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.01.11 19:28 UTC

Well White Lilly all that worry to no purpose - to be honest with you I think you started into labour long before your bitch did - try to get some rest and you may be right and it will be tomorrow - good luck and I hope you get what you are hoping for.
- By MsTemeraire Date 04.01.11 22:38 UTC

> Well White Lilly all that worry to no purpose - to be honest with you I think you started into labour long before your bitch did...

Good Luck Jo, it wont be long now, its amazing how you wake up and proceed on overdrive as soon as the contractions start.

white lilly, I logged in tonight expecting news!!

Can anyone wonder that we go grey?
- By MsTemeraire Date 04.01.11 23:10 UTC
A little private word can work wonders; don't care whether anyone believes it or not, it works:)
- By sleepwhatsleep [gb] Date 05.01.11 01:49 UTC
Erm ... excuse me Miss White Lily but please could you get a wriggle on as your mum is very tired and stressed now and needs to have at least a little bit of energy so she can help you with your puppies. You have been keeping her worried and waiting for long enough now sweetie.
