Hours of fun for your dog with this super durable squeaky toy

http://www.jmldirect.com/Crazy-Critters-PC7001/

Hours of fun??
Yeah right, not if you're my dog
Super Durable?? Ummm, Nope, lasted 5 minutes if that.
Gave it to one of mine - clearly not interested. Gave it to the other and he had chewed holes into it, limbs have been removed from FOXY!!!
I myself had to then remove one of the squeakers.. No better than a normal stuffed toy tbh, without the stuffing for them to enjoy pulling out..

WASTE of £9.99
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 03.01.11 17:18 UTC
Had to laugh, sorry. I saw these and to be honest thought they just looked like a destuffed skin, the sort I throw in the bin when they are no longer of any interest. At least with a stuffed toy they have the pleasure of playing with it whilst they kill it.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 03.01.11 17:53 UTC
Yes, I don't think they would last long round here, for toydogs my 2 Cavaliers are pretty destructive with anything fluffy like that, they mostly have tuggies or Kongs.
- By tigran [gb] Date 03.01.11 18:39 UTC
Must say my experience of this toy is the same as yours suejaw. But being a cruel mummy I have put it away till my dog dose not destroy it.
However that rather spoils the idea of giving it to her as a pressie.x

Had a hold of one today, you might as well give your dogs a scrap of material, much cheaper and exactly the same!
- By suejaw Date 03.01.11 18:45 UTC
I agree, it did look a piece of material, but I thought with being durable it would be sturdier than it was.. :-(
Its still alive, just, with a squeaker at the tail end.. I may get it out to convince the youngster it is fun to play with..

My Dobermann had something similar to these from the US called a Roadkill Rabbit. He killed the squeaks, pulled the eyes off and then completely lost interest due to the lack of innards. Think it is now sitting at the bottom of the toy box!
- By pekehour [gb] Date 03.01.11 22:37 UTC
My Chihuahuas think this is the best toy ever - sturdy enough for half an hour's tug-of-war at a time, and each end has a squeaker - bliss! It does look like roadkill, though.

I'm laughing, because I've just spent a similar amount on a "babble ball" for Solo.  He's my Border Collie boy, and less destructive than all the Chi's & Yorkies.

I have to watch them like a hawk, as they will always try to kill Solo's toys.

He's never destroyed a toy, and so he gets the plush talkative ones, but I dare not leave them down on the floor.

That looks like fun :-)... I may get one for the youngster, see if I can tempt him with that. He's not one for really playing with toys unless its tug with one of the others.

I got one of those in the summer, my little girl would spend ages playing with it with my new rescue dog, unfortunately its been left in the garden and someone's bored teeth have chewed a hole in it :(

Edit to say - I was talking about the babble ball, I thought at £9.99 the critters were a bit of a rip off.

My 3 saints love it, they're very gentle with toys tho :0)
- By Carrington Date 04.01.11 11:15 UTC
Have to disagree, at Christmas I bought 18 of them for each dog which came to my house for the holidays, from terrier size  - GSD's the dogs went mad for them, seem to have loved them better than previous Xmas gifts, they had hours of fun, only 3 have been ripped, the rest are still in tact. And no loose stuffing, which is brilliant, usually have loads of stuffing to clean up from 'dead' toys. :-D

So big thumbs up from my experience. :-)

> I bought 18 of them

Flipping eck - at £10 each?  £180 on empty fake fur?  I thought I was good to my dogs but I wouldn't spend that much.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 04.01.11 12:22 UTC
Sorry one born every minute comes to mind. No way would I pay that kind of money for a scrap of material with a squeek in it.  My mum even said to me yesterday that she would of killed me if I'd bought my dogs them LOL.
- By karenclynes [gb] Date 04.01.11 14:01 UTC
My guys love them and they've always been loved by most dogs at training classes too, uinfact they are a fab way of getting dogs that are foody but not sure about playing interested as because they are empty they are easy to make an opening in and stuff food, have got a fea non playing doggies to play this way as well as teaching some retrieving :-).  There is another brand that does them called skineez, they are slightly cheaper.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 04.01.11 14:05 UTC
Homebase are selling them off at the moment, still wouldn't pay theprice they're charging.  Could make my own for a lot less.

OK, will tell you a secret here - but you have to promise not to tell a soul!  ;-)   I would never live it down.

I had heard of them, so watched some dogs playing with them on youtube.  Decided that Solo would love them.  (He has loads of toys with voice boxes.)

Went into PAH and found them, and, naturally wanted to hear one.  All dog people squeak toys in pet shops, so I wasn't bothered about that.  I found a load of them didn't work, so, naturally (durrrrr) thought the batteries had gone.

I found one that worked, it had quite a few different noises, sayings etc and I took it up to pay for it.  I felt a right prat carrying it round the store, and the bloody thing wouldn't shut up!  I tried not to move it while I was in the queue, but it is movement sensitive and it "talked" every time I breathed.

When it was my turn, I said to the girl, I want to go into Boots next door and I can't walk in with this yapping away, you'll have to tell me how to switch it off.  She said "You've picked up the demonstration model, the others have a tape in to keep them quiet, and you pull it out to make them work!"

Am I the only mean minded owner that doesn't buy soft toys, ruggers or an old sock with a knot yes, but anything stuffed just gets killed within minutes. I'm also terrified that they might swollow the bits.

> Am I the only mean minded owner that doesn't buy soft toys

Probably!  :-)  :-)

Seriously though, I wouldn't be buying expensive toys for my BC if he "killed" them.
- By Whistler [gb] Date 05.01.11 08:27 UTC
SSHHH its called their "Nu Nu" and they both fetch the correct Nu Nu, Jake the fox one and Whistler the racoon.
- By Whistler [gb] Date 05.01.11 08:28 UTC
We say it looks like road kill!

- By STARRYEYES Date 05.01.11 15:38 UTC
yes they wouldnt last here either.

I have a surgery open once a week in my house whilst I operate on the poor animals they have all decapitated...LOL

bought some food from Petplanet on offer so to  knock up the price and save paying P&P I ordered a toy which cost £4.99 (half price) sold as BOGOF  so two 12 inch santas arrived with the food this morning though there would be trouble as I have 3 dogs but they have shared nicely ...so far one santas has lost his moustache!!
