Hello
I really need some advice quite quickly if possible and apologise for the length of this message. I need a 'carer' for one of my dogs from fairly soon for at least three months, possibly longer. The (very condensed) situation is that I left my partner earlier this year after many years of various kinds of abuse. I had to leave my home and am currently going through the legal process of getting it back. I have been severely depressed over the year and have only recently been able to start dealing with practical things, it is hard to explain but just keeping going has been an effort. I kept my dogs for a while but it became impossible because I had to move around staying with various friends or house-sitting for them. They have been cared for in foster homes for the past few months but this will not be possible for very much longer. A friend is able to look after one dog but I need to find somewhere for the other one, they have already been living separately for a couple of months.
As soon as I can move back into my house the dogs can move back too but the first court date has not been set yet and is likely to be March at the earliest. I am currently in a rented bedsit and am still paying the mortgage on my house so I have little money - I am effectively living by increasing the mortgage - so I couldn't afford to pay much to anyone who could look after them at the moment but would be more than happy to pay as soon as I can. I am desperate not to have the dogs permanently rehomed when there is a good chance I can give them a home again fairly soon. I haven't seen them since they were fostered several months ago and I can't begin to explain how that feels. I get regular updates and photos but sometimes it makes it worse seeing them and not being able to cuddle them.
I am sure this is very badly expressed but, basically, if anyone has any ideas or advice could you please let me know. I am more than happy to answer any questions (maybe by PM?).
Many thanks
What breeds are they. I know Iron Mountain Rescue are exceptionally good at short or long term fostering but specialise in large breeds. They also vet and train their fosterers thoroughly. They have a facebook page if you want to contact them. I really hope you can find some help so you can get your dogs back when you are settled again.

What part of the country are you in? It wouldn't hurt to contact the Cinnamon Trust in Cornwall, I know they definitely have foster carers up in Gloucestershire, so sure thay must have them scattered about.

The DogsTrust run a long term fostering service for people who are victims of domestic abuse. Have a look at their website - the Freedom Project only operates in some areas and not sure what area you are in but there is a lot of useful information on their site.

Your breed rescue might be able to help with a foster carer.

Another option which i'm not sure if they do is contact your breed rescue. Some maybe willing to help out in the short term in a situation like this, really does depend on the club and breed...
Good Luck with everything and well done for finding the courage to move on and fight this..
We are all here for any support which you find you may need in the up and coming months :-)

What part of the country are you, and what breed of dog is it?
Many thanks for the replies. The dogs are currently being cared for by the Dogs Trust who have been completely wonderful. Things are taking far longer than I originally thought they would though and I need to find alternative temporary homes fairly soon - there are women who need their dogs homed urgently as I did and are not as 'sorted' as I am now - I am safe and have somewhere to live.
The breed club was the first place I went originally, they were not only unhelpful but made me feel as though I was trying to get something for nothing even though I offered to pay whatever I could. I am in the South East - I haven't approached the Cinnamon Trust yet as I thought they only catered for elderly people but I will ask them if they could help out short term.
Thank you

Are you a member of any breed clubs? Most breeds have welfare groups that can help in situations like this.
What breed is it?

Are you able to say where in the south east and what breed as between some of us we maybe able to help.

First i would like to say you have made a good choice to move on with your life and that pulling through after a year of depression is hard work but well down that you are moving on. Obviously I dont know the circumstances but you deserve better than what you have dealt with
Where are you in the south east and what breeds are they if you are able to tell us may help you never know as Suejaw said bewteen someone may be able to help

If you don't want to mention the breed on here (although I can't think why), then I can probably help if it's a Newfoundland.
I don't know why it is but for some reason I don't want to mention the breeds as I don't want to be fully identifiable. I think I am still a bit paranoid. The dog I would need a home for is labrador sized and a spayed adult bitch, very good natured and currently living with other dogs.
Thank you for all your advice.
I would take one in and can even collect. I don't live that way but often go 'in the area'.
Well done for getting out. its a pity the courts are so slow to help in these situations.
Healing thoughts for your depression to leave you alone. Are you getting good support for it.
Reikiangel it would be great if you could help - I would like to help if I can, perhaps a bag of food. I hope your offer is taken seriously.

Just did a quick google search and came up with this list of orgs that can help
