my girl is on day 55 today shes been very sick for the last 3days only in the morning tho i feed her late at night about 8 and then put dry food down for her tho the night but she dont eat it! her sick is bile do u think its because she is empty? shes now not eating today even tryed her with her fav treat cheese on toast she just walked away... she is nesting and sleeping alot ,hubby looked at her this morning and said is everything ready? i laughed cus its been ready for afew weeks, her tum has dropped alot and she looks so thin when you look down on her! she is a large breed and never had pups this early (if she does go early) so im worried pups will be ok? does it matter the size of breed and them coming early?
thanks jo xx
- By JeanSW Date 29.12.10 12:03 UTC
Size of breed is no worry.  However, she does need to go another 24 hours minimum for whelps to be viable.  Is she only fed on dry?  Or does she get other protein foods during the day??
- By Alfieshmalfie Date 29.12.10 12:28 UTC
If Im reading it correctly she gets one large meal at 8pm and then dry food throughout the night?  I havent bred a litter, however I do have a dog that does throw up bile in the morning if Im late with his breakfast.  Would it be worth just offering her smaller soaked food amounts throughout the day?  That way she wont have to eat too much at once and perhaps be a bit more comfortable?

Apologies if Ive got it completely wrong and that is what happens already.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.12.10 12:51 UTC
Those were my thoughts I start splitting meals once they get to 6 weeks in whelp.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 29.12.10 12:54 UTC
im feeding her 4 times aday :) shes having chicken beef cheese though out the day ,sorry when i said i feed her at 8 this was her last meal of the day and shes not eating what i leave her tho the night ,shes not keen on her food soaked :( but once her appitite comes back she will have it soaked shes nornaly a very greedy girl xx

shes still not ate anything yet today!
- By JeanSW Date 29.12.10 14:40 UTC

> shes still not ate anything yet today!

- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.12.10 19:05 UTC
I have often found in the last week you have to feed as and when they feel ready for it, they may refuse one minute and be hungry half hour later, I just pander to them.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 29.12.10 19:08 UTC

I'm sure Henry's breeder once told me his litter was 9 days early, though the 'official' viable day is 7 days I know. Sounds like your girl is planning on an early New Year's present for you!
- By dancer Date 29.12.10 21:41 UTC
Thinking of you, hope everything goes well.
- By KaneFizz [gb] Date 29.12.10 21:42 UTC

- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 30.12.10 07:57 UTC
I'm glad she ate the beef, my hubby still hasn't given up complaining about the special treatment and extra chicken / beef / fish etc, haha. I don't think he's ever quite forgotten the time I accidentally took half the ham he'd earmarked for his lunch to bait the dog at a show. Ah well, he got BOB that day so it was worth it! :-D
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 30.12.10 10:01 UTC
Hope she holds out for until Saturday.  Guess its a sober new years eve just in case (poor you).  I'll have one for you.

Mine get the beef also, most of my shopping trolly is meat for the girls, and not a lot for us lol.

- By JeanSW Date 01.01.11 22:50 UTC
Wow!  We're on our way then!  So somebody isn't going to bed tonight!  :-)

I'm always glad when thing start to kick in,  I feel more in control, and know that I can help if needed.  It's always the hanging around for things to start that is the killer.

Certainly sounds as if her pains have started.  Hope she has a nice easy go of it.  Good Luck!  :-)
