Apart from all the obvious ones that are used am looking for some ideas for classes. It is at a single breed (shortcoated)event though will be open for Joe Public. Any  suggestions please?

Hi I organise two during the summer with friends, popular classes we do are-
best terrier type
best toy type           these two classes can be for any pure bred or cross or just looks like one!
juinor handler is usally very popular
best turned out, again very popular
most appealing expression
nicest eyes
shinest coat
dog that looks like its owner
best trick
dog the judge would most like to take home
We have found all these very popular, also our obvious ones prettiest bitch, handsome dog had so mant entries we split the classes into two small and large.
this will be interesting to see what other people come up with.

If open to the public then how about best mover short coat and long coat? Movement to me is very important and should be highlighted as such...

What about best golden oldie/veteran?
Best rescue of your breed
Best rescue of any other breeds/types

What would the judge be looking for?

Bit like best puppy, so going overall what they think is the best yearling, but renaming the class/es.

Best 6 legs is a good fun one (with the men rolling their trousers up to the knees and ladies sinking into the mud wearing high heeled shoes).

Irish Brace is fun and an easy one to judge.
- By Star [gb] Date 29.12.10 08:38 UTC
Is that the same as a mismatched brace?

Yes you got it for Irish Brace :)

You can also have best fancy dress where peeps dress their dogs up

I've also seen Best Biscuit Catcher, that one's fun! One show I went to in Kent had Best Decorated Lead! Or Longest Tail, Shortest Tail, Longest Ears? Most Appealing Eyes is one I've seen a few times. Fastest Sit or Down, played like musical chairs, is another I encountered once. Friendliest Dog is fun, you get the madly bouncy ones that are desperate to greet everyone!

Best decorated lead sounds good.
We once had 'bad hair day' dog's, a luncher won it.
Fastest sit and down sounds like fun as well.
