Hi All my toy bitch had a massive litter of eight last wednesday, sadly 2 died. Tonight One bitch has become dyhydrated. Im not sure why. She will not suckle despite placing her on the teat and opening her mouth. I rang the vets and was told to supplement with Glucose and water and Puppy milk which I am doing. Does anyone know why a puppy, which has been gaining weight nicely has become dehydrated? The puppies seem to be pulling at the teats quite vigorsly so I am wondering if she has enough milk for them.

Any help/advice would be highly appreciated.

Sorry to hear two have gone now.

i don'y know much about why pup might be like that but I would check theat the room/bed isn't too warm.  The outside temps altered again so the inside temp will also alter.  Its the obvious one i could think of.

Keep feeding the glucose. I don't know if you can give cooled boiled water tot he pup, some will know so don't try it util its said to be ok.

Hope you have success with this one and fingers crossed for you.
