Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Permission to Show

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a form that needs to be completed or if there is a certain address for this request to be completed?

Thanks

Cambria

You only need to ask for permission to show if your dog or bitch has had some sort of surgical procedure and depending on what that was permission will either been given or not, and your vet may be approached for their opinion.

Your post is not that clear and perhaps you mean because the animal has been spayed, if so you can download at form from the KC site.

Hi Nova,

The dog has had an operation which requires the KC to be notified - many dogs are currently been given permission as from reading the KC gazette. I've gone onto their website and can't locate any forms or who to address any letter to. Its not neutering which has been done.

Thanks

In which case I would write a letter saying what operation has been performed and why and also give the name of the vet concerned then ask for permission to show and it will go before the next meeting and you will be informed of the decision although they may wish to contact your vet first to ascertain if the need for an operation was because of an accident, like a broken tooth or torn ligament.

Sent it to London not Aylesbury addressed to the Activities Department and mark the envelope "request for permission to show" that should find the right department.

I have had to send 3 such letter4s one for a broken/amputated tail tip, and two for teeth that had to be removed.

As Nova says I just addressed it to Kennel Club in London.

Hi Cambria,

Not sure if this is of any help but back in 2006 I asked for permission to show after one of my dog's had cruciate surgery & the letter's I had back were from Kelly Prosser Senior Administrator, shows, trials & awards department.  I think I also sent in a report from the surgeon that done the surgery.  As long as they have approved other dog's to keep showing you should be OK but if it is a hereditary condition they are likely to say no.  But you have to wait for a letter back from them to OK you before you can continue to show the dog.

They no longer seem to have the STA department it now seems to be called the Activities Department, not sure who heads that department now but it may still be Kelly but it will find it's mark if just sent to the department.

I was told I had to give the name and address of the vet performing the proceedure, the name of the proceedure and the date.

From the KC website FAQ:

"Q.   My dog requires/has had surgery.  Do I need to request 'Permission to Show' and if so how do I go about it?

A.   Write to the KC requesting the 'Permission to Show'.  In addition you will need to include a report from the Vet in question confirming the surgery undertaken. This will then be placed before the relevant Sub-Committee for consideration at the next available meeting and you will be informed of the outcome shortly thereafter.
