my bitch was due 63 days on the 14th, she was only mated once as her and the stud wouldnt mate again a couple of days later. she was mated on the 12th oct, she was 12 days into her season. we have had maybe half an hour of panting from her the past couple of days but nothing else. i have taken her temp afew times but this hasnt been regular as she isnt keen on it an i dont want to stress her out. she is still eating on an off and has small bursts of energy but she spends almost all of the time asleep.

how long would you leave her before taking her to a vet? and how long can she safely go without intervention? iv never had a bitch go over before so im worrying like mad

I think they normally say it takes two days past maiting for the eggs to be viable so hypothetically she could be two days behind. If her temperature hasnt dropped and she is eating and drinking I would have though it would be ok to wait 2 more days but maybe give the vet a ring. Although they probablty wont be able to do much. Im in a situation simular where they cant do nothing but wait.

is this a large or toy breed? this can make alot of difference as to length of time being acceptable to wait. My bitch went over this time and i took her to the vets on day 66 as everything was normal before that still and kept taking her back daily till on day 69 she ended up with a cesarean as she had a singleton just wasn't able to start off labour on her own. i would call your vet and see what they suggest and go with your gut feeling as you know your bitch better than anyone :-) good luck

she is a medium sized dog, 20kg. i have had a word with my vet today an she wants to see her tomorrow (day 66) if nothing has happened tonight, an the vet doesnt like dogs going more than 5 days over so then opts for an elective c-section

well she started panting a little while ago but im not holding my breath lol, i took her temp at dinner time today (first time i took it today) an it was 37.1, it stayed at this temp for afew hours an now it is up at 37.7

all my girls have whelped when their temp dropped to 35.4 but it does go back up just before whelping starts!.

mine was 36.6 when dropped, so all bitches are different
