What is it you find so horrible about it? It is not uncommon for mum to need a little helping hand, and quite normal. If the film had not been in a fast forward mode, you would have seen nothing more than a gentle easing to help birth along.
oh sorry i didnt realise it was in fast forward not with it. Thought she yanked the pup from bitch. although she could have made it more comfytable and let the bitch clean it and stop taking the other pup away.

The pup need to be worked on, did you not see her rubbing the pup to get her going, and removing the mucous from the nasal passages, , this is almost always done before giving pup back to mum
Most breeders will remove pups when another whelp is imminent. A small box with blanket and hot water bottle is usually inside the whelping pen so we can remove pups to safety, clean & check over newborn, once latched on, the other pups are returned to mum
The owner was more hands on than I usually am, I let my bitches do as much as they can themselves, just lending a hand when it is needed, even to cleaning the pup afterwards, but there was nothing horrid in that video, was there? I was a bit puzzled as to the reason the bitch was on a table with nowhere to dig. It just wasn't my idea of a normal whelping area, but then I have big dogs that would have broken the table ;-)

She was rather hands on and I would have thought the bitch would be more comfortable in a box, but it was ok I guess.

I see that the clip was taken in a vets surgery, so assume that there had been some problem prior to what we saw. And, let's be fair, vets are not as good as most breeders at delivering pups. C-sections are more their area of expertise.
I assume that the vet was so used to examining small dogs on a table, that they didn't stop to think just because the bitch was giving birth. I would not have been at all happy to have a bitch on a table top, and no bedding. Last time one of mine went into labour while I was at the vets, I was given a room, and a load of towels and wee pads on the floor. (While one of the vets stood at the door watching us fascinated!)
From my own experience it looks as if someone jumped in too soon to intervene.

There is a high possibility this was in the US, where it seems to be more common for vet intervention.
I know I certainly would be very uncomfortable with the dog on a table with pups, but I have had to ease a pup from practically every litter I have had, and most breeders I know have done so.
I still think the speed of the film makes a poor viewing for what was,IMO, a reasonable easing of whelp
Didn't notice it was in a vets surgery, that makes more sense.
I agree that they maybe intervened too quick, but we don't know how long she had been in labour for. The owner may have panicked a bit if this was a first litter.

got to say i have found this quite an informative clip without any of the small talk in between that you see on usual whelping videos. can i ask, is what the person with the gloves on doing what is called "feathering" ?

Dog seemed happy throughout and didn't look bothered about being at a vets. I have had to help bitches over the years. Though it did look hard being on the hard table.

Didn't see anything wrong with it, she didn't look like she was upset at all and they seemed very careful as well....
I've not read anywhere to pull a pup out at that angle, that musy have hurt the bitch.
They could have at least put towels down for her, but i suppose if they did it would take away from filming.
