Paypal has been attacked (I don't know the computer language) by supporters of Julian Assange (Wikileaks) as USA want him extradited from UK. Heard that mastercard and been under attack too.

They have also hacked into Visa too..
Pretty scary really that they are able to do that...

wow,I have both of those!Ive been checking though, nothing apart from those emails, mind you that could explain why paypal havent replied yet!I could have rungthem, apparently, but they warned it  was an international number,so I didnt,as it would probably have cost an arm and a leg! There are some scarily clever crooks out there!

If you forward the fake paypal emails to spoof@paypal.co.uk you'll generally get a very quick automated reply.  I used to delete all such emails but nowadays I try to report them all first as the more data you can give these companies the faster they can deal with the problem.

You can search for them online but I believe most companies now have a 'spoof' email address to send the junk to including eBay and most banks and building societies.  A typical prefix may begin with: abuse@, spam@, fraud@, spoof@, emailhoax@, reportphish@.  This is one instance where an industry standard would be helpful!

The main thing to remember is that if you receive an email that you aren't expecting, then it is usually a scam :) :) eg - you can't win a lottery if you haven't bought a ticket etc :) :)
