Our girl went into labour yesterday afternoon. She had been shaking since she got up but about 2pm she took herself off into the whelping box where she's been every since. She has torn it to shreds and I keep wanting to tidy it up! But after a sleepless and fruitless night we are now halfway through day 2. She has since decided to come out of the whelping box and sit with me on the couch. Not a good idea!! How much longer?? Both for her and for me!!
Hope all goes well and they come today. Maybe they were getting ready to come and she's having a little rest.
Have you checked for inertia, although labour can last a day or two until pups appear.
Hoping you're in the midts of things as we type.

Has she lost her mucus plug yet? this is a sign that she is getting much closer...can you see any contractions? So long as your bitch isn't pushing and not getting anywhere then she sounds like she is in the early stages. But if you are concerned at all then a quick call to your vets would do no harm.

I would contact the vet if you think she has been in labour that long. As others have said I would worry about inertia

I'm not too concerned as her last labour was long too. She has just went outside and her mucus plug went then. She has went back into the whelping box too so hopefully not much longer. I am going crazy with waiting and my eyes are so heavy.
I would phone the vet if I were concerned but everything is pointing towards a normal delivery for her. Fingers crosses.
And she is getting booked in to be spayed!!!!
Hope all's going well.
poor girl, talk of speyed and she not over this hurdle lol.

Oh, I could not go through that again, never mind her! Long labour and obviously not coping with the pain very well so never again!!
On happier news!! She began pushing at 3pm and had her litter of seven, big, healthy pups by 7pm and cleaned and warm and feeding well. Bliss! She is a fantastic mum again this time. No-one is allowed near and as I was cleaning up the box last night, she was picking them up and putting them back in!! Everyone in the house has had a peek which she is OK with and she looked at our 6 onth old pup with a looke to say, "Just you wait. Babysitting duty is on you!!'.

fantastic news well done :)
Well done, I bet you're happy it was a daytime whelping.
Pleased all went well, she sounds like she's going to be a fantastic mum.
