Having lost a dog being neutured I am very worried about booking my toy breed into being spayed. Would I look like an idiot if I ask for the surgical specialist at the other branch to perform to op?

Who cares, you are paying the bill and you can ask for what you want.

Nova is right.  :-)

I use a large veterinary hospital, and I guess they think I'm a pain when I'm insistant on choosing which vet I use.  There are lots of vets there, and I am sure that they are perfectly capable.

But I had a very tiny bitch that was never going to make breeding size, and I wanted her spayed after her first season.  I wanted the guy who spays ferrets.  I phoned up and asked if they would please check the rota and tell me which day he was operating.  I'm amazed how many people book operations and don't know which vet is performing surgery that day!

As Nova has pointed out.  My money, my choice!  :-)  :-)  Choose the one you trust KaneFizz.

Totally agree with the others, my dog, my money, my choice. When I first owned dogs my vet's word was gospel, not now! If I want something then I say; they don't see my breed come through the doors of the surgery every day and admit they have learnt breed specific things from us.

If you want to be polite you could explain the reasoning behind your concerns.
I hope all goes well for you both.

Not at all. Simply explain why you're worried (and the previous loss of a pet in those circumstances is a very valid reason for worry!) and your fears will be understood. Nobody will think you're stupid.
