- By Lea Date 01.12.10 20:24 UTC
Well up until this year it has been the tradition in our house that we eat chocolate biscuits in bed for breakfast!!!!
Pete moved in with me in May so this will be his first christmas living with us and I would like to do something different. (a 15yo, thats 6'2", 11yo and me and Pete in a double bed just doesnt go!!!!)
Soooooo....
What do you do for breakfast?????
I was wondering about Salmon, but no idea.
Would like to do something different and special but quick and easy :)
HELP :) :)

Our traditional Xmas breakfast since Ken and I have been together is Smoked Salmon, scrambled eggs and brioche with bucks fizz - the girls have muffins or choc croissants at the moment (11 and 13! - not quite got the taste for smoked salmon yet!)

How exciting your first Xmas :)

Has to be smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - plus Bucks Fizz :) Not in bed tho' :) We eat breakfast once all the veggies are prepared and the turkey in the oven - then open presents :)

We have no problem getting son (6' 3"), daughter, DIL, me, OH and two dogs all in bed while opening the 'children's' stockings :) :) Just hope that the bed will take the weight if daughter gets married :) :)

Rach Dingo was taken out for her sixth birthday and had a full menu choice and asked for a plate of smoked salmon prawns and crusty bread !!

We have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs but also have some 'proper' cured smoked bacon with it ! The four legged girls also get some ! :-D

Always Croissants.....warmed in the oven (proper not microwave) a bit of jam and that is it.
My Christmas breakfast treat, the rest of the year it ia mostly porridge for me and various cereals for the others.
Cooked if on holiday only.

Some good ideas :) Smoked salmon is good, but Pete cannot stomach eggs, and on Xmas day I dont really want to cook any because the smell makes him feel sick.
So smoked salmon and.......
(oh and both my boys love smoked salmon!!!!)

Hot Crumpets with mum's rum butter melting through the holes.  Followed by a glass of sherry. Start as you mean to go on :-)

Oh yes two sox :) :)
Grandma used to make Rum butter, now thinking I must get hold of my uncle to get the recipe :) :) :)

You're all making me hungry!  Usually breakfast for us isn't anything special.  Little one will have her usual cereal and toast and OH and I will have toast or bagels and smoked salmon if we're feeling really adventurous and organised (I'm usually rushing to get ready to go to FILs for Christmas day).  I love smoked salmon and scrambled egg though.  Is it just a case of adding salmon to the egg when it's cooking?

Xmas morning our group of friends,  various kids and now the odd couple of grand children in tow, meet up for a dog walk... followed by flasks of coffee and  hot chocolate, bacon sarnies and whatever any one grabs on the way out the door served from the boots of cars!!
The menu varies the company is always fabulous;-)

If you don't want eggs then smoked salmon and dill sauce on bagels is great for a special breakfast - a good dill sauce recipe here or you can buy it in Ikea!  If you want something with even less fuss then you can't go wrong with smoked salmon and cream cheese - add a light squeeze of lemon and plenty of black pepper.  All you need do is lightly toast the bagels :)

Christmas day we are all up at 5.30am, and hubby cooks us all a full English, (yum, yum) we decided years ago this is the best way to do it, with 25+ people coming (this year, my last biggy ) we have a lot of prep and organising to do, dog walk to fit in etc and no time to eat later as busy doing other things. So for us it fits well. We get a nice family breakfast, plenty of fuel for the calm before the storm. :-)

Now for you I would do something totally different if wanting to impress Salmon and cream cheese bagel with strawberries and champagne or sparkling wine, lovely start to the day along with a Christmas chocolate. :-D

Gosh, never thought of doing something special for a Christmas breakfast, now I'm worried cos I have parents and a godmother staying this year! I usually just have normal breakfast, though I've generally tested a bit of my stocking chocolates before getting up!

Be careful with the Bucks Fizz especially home made stuff!

A few years ago I had a huge Christmas dinner to prepare for a large crowd .

That morning I went for a nice brekkie at a neighbours house first.

Dinner never happened for me as I was rat-assed and fell asleep behind the sofa...NEVER again.

The others just mucked in themselves. Im reminded of this every Christmas.
