I've long since passed the stage where I'm bothered what I look like as long as I'm warm. Currently have thermal long johns warming up on the radiator in case it gets REALLY cold but I'm now dressed in thick socks, track suit bottoms, thermal vest, fleece, fingerless gloves (a la steptoe) woolly hat and oversized padded work shirt. At least I'm warm!
Yesterday in town some people looked freezeing but fashionable (probably in bed today with flu).
Do you dress for the weather or otherwise?

im with you,im 29 and dont care what i look like, vests, jumpers, socks hats etc,im warm and deff not with it hehehehe

I try and do both. Ive bought some lovely xmas jumpers for work which have little sparkly bits in but keep me nice and warm. I do tend to wear my bronte horse coat though in winter for work because its the warmest thing I have! Have washed my snood ready for when its icey cold!!

I am going to agility training tonight at the same venue where I went to a show yesterday. It was freezing there - an indoor riding school out on the marshes 50 yards from the sea. We had snow there yesterday and I was frozen so tonight will probably be even colder. Consequently I am wearing leggings under my jeans, a long sleeved shirt, a woolly jumper, a fleece and a waterproof coat that keeps the wind out. I have two pairs of socks on and am trying to hunt down a pair of gloves that don't have a hole in them.
I look 5 stone heavier than I really am and have no idea how I am going to run but hopefully I should be warmer than I was yesterday :-)
For the weather!!!! I have Raynaurds ( fingers and toes get frozen) so I am not getting cold for anyone. I am glad to hear that some younger people on here are also dressing for wamth was horrified to see the pictures in the paper of girls out on the town in almost their undies :(
Remember hubby saying that when he first met me I always used to wear stockings ( you did then!!) and boots with my uniform then after a few years of marriage I would wear a thermal vest, Nora Batty tights and uniform trousers!!! Too late mate he was already hooked.

Sat here with thick jogging bottoms on. Socks. Hoodie with I love a SWD on it and my thick immitation fur coat. Oh and hot water bottle and I'm still freezing.

Oh how I try to look good, but it costs money :-) Or you just plain freeze to death...
Currently sat in the house Uggs, joggers, hoodie and my waterproof coat which i've not taken off since I put it on at 3pm today...Brrrr, even with central heating on.

Well I was really, really pleased that I dressed for the cold this morning. Got to work and wondered why nobody had taken their coats off. Heating system had frozen, and the highest it got indoors today was 13c I was bloody perished.
I had only just received a Damart order. So, was wearing, thermal long johns, fleece pants, socks, and pixie socks. Furry boots, a T-shirt and a thinnish jumper, and a heavy weight jumper, and a fleece gilet, and a very heavy weight full length coat with hood.
And I worked in fingerless mittens. You think I looked daft? One of the girls (late 20's) was wearing her mickey mouse bobble hat with mouse ears.

Ah yes but at least with all that extra padding you won't hurt yourself if you fall over. Remember
"Weebles wobble but they don't fall down" !! :)
I too vote for for
warm over
with-it. Sometimes it's just too cold to really care, and truthfully no one else can see past/out of their own balaclava and groovy headgear to notice any one elses...

I keep my fingerless gloves on all day (except for visits to bathroom) but have to keep reminding myself not to get like a local resident who left her woolly hat on so long her hair grew through it - YUK.

ROFL!!! :-)

When it gets this cold - which admittedly is uncommon in the UK - nobody sensible gives a damn.
I'd wear a michelin man suit if it meant I was warm on a dog walk, and sod anyone who laughs at me!
It's that or stay housebound....and TBH unless you have the central heating on ALL DAY tropically, then you do need to keep active and walking and getting out.... If I start to chill when watching TV I know it's time to pad up, tack up the dog and get Out. Better that than staying in, and I wish it would actually snow!
PS: who is going to see you when you are having the best kind of dog walk anyway - out in fields and woods and hedgerows.... Good footwear, lots of layers underneath, good windproof outer and you're sorted :)

Snuggled in my bed with my thick dressing gown on covered by my 12 tog duvet! With a big furry black cat keeping my feet warm ! A time when feeling poorly has it's benefits !
I dress for the weather and don't care what I look like...take the snows earlier this year..
Even to the extent that someone wondered who that nutter walking along the road in a high-viz
jacket, bobble hat with a rucksack and flashing bike light attached to it was....
They had a right laugh when I finally arrived at work lol...
Althou yesterday at work it was ridiculous as some idiot decided to ramp up the heating to 30 degrees
and didn't bother turning it down when it had reached a nice warm temperature....
As our depts office space is up on a mezzanine floor, heat rises & boy it was like a sauna....
so we were all stripping off our layers..
I was down to a summer vest top and my jeans....That was after I peeled off my rugby top, a fleece etc (it was minus 6 when I left for work and minus 4 when I arrived at work)
Not good for my asthma or trying to keep the colds etc at bay.
The girls even had two big fans on trying to circulate and cool the air..
Going for layers again today as at least can strip them off if the nutter strikes again at work!

Just spoke to a lady on the phone whose postie delivered her mail this morning still wearing his shorts, apparently he runs everywhere.

My postman in shorts too! Wonder if she was from same area as me.
For me, I'd rather be warm. I have plenty of cardigans and jumpers for work that are 'with it' but when you get to my feet it's my big winter boots, not beautiful but I can not cope with cold feet!

Sounds like our office.. Far too hot and I had the fan going on me yesterday. Its one extreme or another for us.

I have a dilema as being of "A
Certain Age" I carry central heating around with me and at any unexpected moment can expierience that warm glow only understood by those who have been there...then the hat coat scarves etc.. get thrown off for 10 mins only to be thrown back on as I cool down and start to shiver. I have been seen wandering round the park in the snow in short sleves!!! LOL ;) ;) People think I am mad.... The temp at work is way too high as we have lots of sick people in the dept and they feel the cold however those of us working (Flat out) are boiling in short sleves and have fans going.

Aw I'm definitely not 'with it'. My winter hat is hideously ugly but it is nice and warm, pinched my OH's motorbike thermals too so I've been toasty if somewhat lumpy looking on my walks the past few days.
Vic looks better dressed than I do in his smart new jumper (Vic's new jumper = my ugly hat stays another year :) )

Oh definitely 'with it' - a hat and scarf with pawprints on is cool, yes? :-D

YEY I'm with it today :-D
Just got through the post a lovely JW puffer gilet off ebay. I'm starting to match now and not look so much a wally!!, lol.. Not that I care much..
I have got an old sheepskin (leather in the outside)pilots' jacket which has been in the Charity shop bag more often than I can count, it has never actually got to the charity shop as I always take it back out at the last minute 'just in case'!! :) Every time we get a flake of snow, on it goes!! So you could say that I am definitely not 'with it' but warm!!

dont care how I look if I am warm. I told someone last week that I was wearing a vet and they thought that it was awful! funny thing is if it were summer I could have used it as a summer top and no one would have said anything....its pretty! & arm, goes right over me bum.

Be glad that you don't work for the government then. The controls have been fixed (when the heating actually works), so nobody can turn it up past 19 degrees.
I normally only have it at 18 degrees at home - bah humbug eh :)
I'd rather have the choice of wearing layers and not having asthma playing up.
Than too hot and asthma flare up and spend most of the day coughing
it takes a while for it to settle down too :(
Granted at work we are lucky as we are allowed to wear what we like within reason.
So normal winter attire is jeans and jumpers and a fleece for extra warmth if needed.
I have however worked in places where the heating has been broken in an old grade 2 listed building.
Where we had to wear coats and gloves to keep warm (I even wore my thermal layers too).
So can appreciate those that are working in the cold.
Ive got a fetchig pale blue set of ski thermals. Today in the office Im wearing thick cords, a T shirt and long jumper. When I walk the hounds I add a thick fleece, socks, boots gloves and hat.
I dress for the cold and add the thermals for rugby matches or long dog walks. Being trendy with blue legs and faces makes one look like a smurf!

I have thermals on and lots of layers it is freezing. I really dont care what I look like. My friends who live further down country all think I am mad wearing thermals they wouldn't it is trendy apparently.
I dont care, I live on the mountain, the place is like a skating rink and it is cold.
to live on a mountain sounds wonderful!
to live on a mountain sounds wonderful!Only the black mountain in Wales but yes gorgeous place to live except in this weather!!! Sinks wouldn't drain the other day because the pipes were frozen and the back door froze shut lol

For work I have to look half way decent but otherwise I look like a bag lady with so many layers on none of which match lol

Scored a big hit with my 77 yr old mother after persuading her to buy some leggings earlier in the week... I wouldn't take no for an answer and marched her into Peacocks despite her protests that she was "too old" to wear things like that... She's got them on today over her support tights under her trousers and says she's never felt warmer!
We have no snow here just a stiff biting wind giving us a wind-chill of around -6.

Ah my agility look :) :) michelin man (those who remember! lol) plus as I watch Jess first so sit with a hot water bottle and a blanket over me!!!
I wore my 'agility' look to the show on Sunday! FREEEEEZING... plus had to stay for BIS and standing around in that ring it was very very very cold! A friend had these fabulous hand warmer sachets - I want (Xmas hint Jill) they were brill!
> A friend had these fabulous hand warmer sachets - I want (Xmas hint Jill) they were brill!
Ah yes I know the things you mean! I used to have some a couple of years ago, mine came from a charity shop, so I have no idea where you'd get them from. They were excellent and perfect for winter dog walks, though a little fussy to "recharge" them (by boiling them on the stove basically). Anyone know a cheap source of these? I've seen them at silly prices in Outdoor shops but there must be cheaper places.

You used to be able to get disposable ones in Argos, they might be in the golfing section.

Yep - have seen those in the Pound Shops - though not hereabouts. Think I'd prefer the rechargeable ones... or I shall just have to resort to the old-fashioned method, probably one of the most satisfying hand-warmers of all.... a Thermos flask of hot tea :)

Love it! :-) :-)

I thought I looked Ok, but the look on the face of the 2 office juniors when I walked in on Friday has me wondering, for about 30 seconds.
Like I care ;-)
