Hi there, new to this forum thing but figured i would try it out. We adopted zoey 5 weeks ago and found out 3 weeks ago she was pregnant. She has seen the vet and he has done an x ray> she is doing well and expecting 4 pups. For 24 hours she has been very clingy and sleepy. she has had a temp of 98.2 all the way to 98.9 She has been leaking a clear liquid slowly for 3 days now. no color or odor. she Wont leave my side. she has no othe signs of labor. can she be getting close to labor? Puppies are not very active all day either..

when you say liquid do you mean a clear stringy discharge? if so that is normal in the last week. Have you got a whelping area set up for her somewhere peaceful in the house and getting her to sleep there aswell as this helps to get them familiar with the surroundings. When the time gets closer she will be restless prob digging at her bed, even shaking. She may vomit and go off her food. Also they usually have diarrhoea 24 hours before to help clear out there tummies. All these signs don't always happen so it is wise to not leave your bitch at this time. Good luck

When the pups are born, remember they will need to be kept warm.  Newborn pups cannot regulate their temperature and if cold can't digest milk ;)

I use a whelping box in a draught-free area, covered with a fleece which hangs down in front to keep in the warmth, but with a toy breed you may need additional warmth at this time of year.

Do you have The Book of the Bitch ?    It's a godsend for owners with a bitch in whelp.   Available from Pets at Home and amazon ;)

I wonder if as you are unsure of how far along she is and her due dates it would be wise to have another vet check. I have a large breed but am sure 4 is quite a large litter for a toy and it is possible she will have trouble getting started if she is so full of pups. The clear discharge is normal in the last week or so but I think in view of the fact that there is some ? about her due date I would like a vets opinion.
Good luck
