At two shows in the last year I have been given the reserve card when I have come 3rd.  In both the classes there was only 3 dogs in the class.  Do you get the reserve if there are only 3 in a class ?

Yes you are right, Reserve is 4th, VHC is 5th,
So dont know why you were given a reserve instead of 3rd.!

Sounds weird, sure that they felt she was worthy of a third?  Bet the clubs had lost some third place cards LOL

I hope it was not that they thought her unworthy . that would be a shame. I feel that my handling may let her down from time to time but I dont think thats a reason to demote her.

If they withhold 3rd place they can't then give a reserve so it just sounds like a mistake was made - maybe they'd run out of 3rd place cards!!

Yes, I bet they'd run out and thought it wouldn't make much difference. Bit of a shame!

Could be a case of an inexperienced, careless or stupid steward. As said if the 3rd is withheld then all the rest will be withheld so I agree just lack of care.

So this was two separate shows, and two different stewards and judges?  How odd!

Did you happen to notice the crits in the papers later - were all three places listed?

One show I can understand it was probably a mistake but two shows seems most peculiar.  I hope you get to the bottom of it :)

yes in one  crit it had her as 3rd. i dont like to complane so i dont say anything. but i keep all my dogs cards as every thing she gets is special to me . in one show she got a 4th rosette, so when i got home i stuck a 3rd on it lol.
