hi, we have had a litter puppies and one of the girls has a domed head, it is quite noticable. I have heard it could be hydrocephalis (if spelt wrong sorry), should I be worried, the vet didn't mention it when they were 8 weeks for vaccination visit but it seems more noticable now. is this just because she i getting bigger? I do know it is desirable in some breeds but not read anything about it in my breed (lab). they are now 11 weeks old
thank you.

Can you take a photograph and send it to your breeder, or another breed knowledgable friend?

Is your puppy thriving, and showing normal signs of development?  I don't have any relevant experience but there are some good information sites regarding hydrocephalus in dogs - here is one.  Might be worth doing a bit more research and arranging a visit with the vet.  Tell them what you are concerned about before you go and give them time to read up on the condition first as I expect it isn't something they'd see very often.

Hello Allison,
If you have any concerns about this puppy you must go back to you vet for another consultation. Hydrocephalus can exist in young puppies without noticable 'doming' of the skull at the 8 week check up. Indeed, in breeds such as Labradors and Golden Retrievers , the doming due to increased amounts of fluid on the brain is often overlooked at this age because these breeds ( and others ) can have large heads relative to body mass. What you must look out for are changes in behaviour such as restlessness, circular pacing perhaps with a slight limp,
barking at nothing in  particular and even high pitched crying and possible seizures. These symptoms are consistent with the cerebral irritation which results from hydrocephalus. I could describe more having experienced this in a Golden Retriever puppy. An MRA scan will confirm the diagnosis. Treatment can be effective in relieving the pressure but the outcome (or prognosis) will depend on timely intervention and the underlying cause of the hydrocephalus . I wish you all the very best.
