no but i calculate about 12-15 years ago
No must be later than that, I have just quickly checked results from my own breed's ch show and only 7 years ago a dog won under it's breeder. What rule number is it in the KC book? I wish they had one to stop family exhibiting under famliy too, and by that immediate family. Also stop judges having dogs under them that are in co-ownership with their partner / spouse with a 3rd party, or those that have been co-bred inthe same vein.

I thought it was about 10 years ago but don't know. Ask the KC via their e-mail.

Trouble is the more restrictions there are re connections that you would basically have very low entries for breed specialists, often the very people whose opinions one values the most.
This is the very reason my breed quality is so very poor, health and type wise in the UK. Although reasonably high numbers of entries and litters it has been dominated by one family and their minions, all swapping breeding stock. The COI's of some of the current show stock is 40% upwards and that is not even through 1st cousin to 1st cousin mating. They are just so inbred for generations. And don't even try to show an dog of foreign blood here under them, they literally will walk straight past it in the ring. And yes family judging family. No I do not value their opinion at all.

what is your breed?
In 1996 at Driffield our judge stated in their critique preamble that they were the first judge to be penalised by this rule, hence half the normal entry!
Hope this narrows it down.

I thought that it was longer than that. mid eighties stick out in my head. but then time goes on and we dont thing that anything is as old as it is!
It had to be between 1993 and 1998. I started showing in 1993 and we were allowed to show under the breeder then, but in 1998 we had a replacement judge who gave the BCC to a bitch she bred and it was talked about at the show that if the breeder had been the booked judge then the bitch couldn't have entered. Can't narrow it down any more than that though.

No in the 1990's it was just that many of us didn't not think it suitable to show under our breeders or family so didn't. THere wasn't a true ruling just how many people felt.

It wasn't the 80's as the first show I went to with Addison was National Gundog 1988 at Ingliston and the judge gave a bitch she'd bred the CC & BOB. Thank heavens that ruling has come in. Unfortunately, it's still rife in cat showing :-( that's the reason I need to know!

We are friends with the owner of the stud we used earlier in the year and she is a specialist breed judge who has a few appointments next year, she said straight away not to enter our boy under her as he is out of one of her boys as she wouldn't place him; and if it were me judging I would feel uncomfortable to be put in that position its not fair to all concerned.
Would I put our girl under her... yes as I value her opinion, and as she has nothing to do with our bitches breeding wise/ lines. I am a believer of only putting up the best dogs and if she put our bitch last and the others were better I wouldn't be upset as it doesn't help the breed only putting up your own stuff.
And I suppose the next problem is owning and showing a breed with relatively low numbers in the ring compared to other breeds we all know each other and the judges, and going to the same events and talking to each other we are bound to bump into each other.

That's different Triona. Would you take a pup that you bred from her stud dog under her?

No

No it was definitely more recently as it has come in some time after I started, adn I bred my first litter in 1995. I seem to think it was in this century not the last.
