Advice needed for Crufts entry please!  If I enter Limit dog and Good Citizens class with my boy, say he wins Limit but didn't get placed in GCs, would that disqualify him from going any further?  If so, could you withdrawn from the GC class?

Also, my younger boy has qualified but he won't be showing.  Do I have to enter him for him to be able to share the day with us, or is there another way to get him in? (I considered PAT but they insist you only handle one dog at a time and I'll obviously have the 2 with me)

The same rules apply at Crufts as all other Championship shows. Only unbeaten dogs can challenge for the CC.

Yes; only dogs that are entered for an event (whether showing, or agility, or Discover Dogs etc) are allowed in.

Yes as others say if you are beaten in the second class or unplaced you can't challenge for CC. I would advise you only enter the Limit class if you think you could win it as if you enter both you cannot withdraw from a breed class.

If the dog is good enough, good enough to win the ticket, then it won't matter of course how many classes he's in. If he is entered in more than one and is beaten in one, then he wouldn't have got the ticket anyway -just another way to look at it. Plus if he's won one and is beaten in another by the ticket winner, the judge can still call him in for the reserve. I went mad at Crufts this year and entered my girl in Limit, Veteran and Good Citizen -she won all 3, the bitch ticket and BOB. I always enter GC as I like to show people the dogs have been trained as well -but I always enter it as an extra class as some judges will not seriously consider the winners of GC in the challenge.

If he's good enough to win Limit I'm sure he'd win the GC class aswell :)

That's what I was going to say Gemma - the GC class is generally smaller and a little lower in quality, as most of the top breeders (in my breed at least) haven't even heard of it. And then you have 2 chances. Last year I put Henry in Open and GC as he was a month short of being a veteran - he got nowhere in Open of course at that age, but was 3rd in GC which I was very pleased with.

Are you sure your youngest will enjoy being on the bench for up to 9 hours in a hot noisy atmosphere? Would let whoever is doing Discover dogs have him there they do have more chance to rest and far more chance to make friends with visitors.

I have the same dilemma with both of my dogs, not only GC class but the Special Working Gundog for one and the Working Trial Class for the others.

I actually entered my dogs in classes for which the majority of the entry were not qualified and won both (however I have to admit there were no other entries). It was not the winning that was of particular kudos to me but the fact that they had to qualify for the classes not on looks but proven working ability, which gave me a great deal of pleasure.
