Hi There, I am very keen to have a Shiba Inu, in the not too distant future ,and have been trying to find out as much as possible about the breed.  Have been reading books and looking at many web sites. I just wondered if anyone on here had  any knowledge of the breed,good and bad.  Would welcome any comments. Thank you.

Would suggest you contact the breed club who should be able to give you the names of some breeders who will be happy to discuss the breed with you - I do not have one but do know they are typical spitz and can be bossy and or feisty, they are beautiful to look at though.

If you are anywhere near Ryton on Dunsmore  (near Coventry) on Saturday 27th November the Nordic show will be held at the Sports Connexion, and you will be able to see all the Spitz breeds (including Shiba's) at the only show of the year where they are all together.

Hi there. Thank you all for your replies.  I am just outside Edinburgh, so have a limited  number of shows I can attend.  I am in no great hurry and will spend some time looking into the breed first. I have owned various breeds over the years, but never a spitz type and do not want to go rushing in without doing some research first.

There is a few open show around Edinburgh area coming up, there may be Shiba's there, LKA on Sunday at Centeral Hall Ingliston, or there is Livingston CS on 27th Dec at the same venue.

hope you got the info I pm you. I met a couple of shibas at discover dogs last week . Beautiful looking and really appealing but then I do have a thing about spitz breeds

Went along to Ingliston on Sunday,and only one shiba there,but ooooh was really impressed with him. Had a book delivered today so reading that, and then will contact breed club and get some contacts.

There's a show on Sunday at Lanark, they may be some Shiba's there, the show is held at Lanark Mart, judging starts at 10am.
