I posted hre a little while ago about my small breed bitch she's about 5 weeks from her last mating the problem is last week she looked much bigger and had definately gained weight but this week she's lost some weight and has gone off her food I'm geting her scanned very soon just hoping for some good news this time around as she's already had a few phantoms I would appreciate any help and would like to know if anyone else had a simlar experience like this or if their bitch had reabsorbed before I'd lke to hear about it thanks

Hi softie ive had a girl reabsorb half her litter but thats it ,ive read alot about it on here and just wondering if shes lost weight because shes not eating? or did she start looseing weight before she stopped eating?....at 5 weeks none of my girls have put much weight on tbh its around 6/7 weeks my girls start to look bigger and weigh more and keep getting bigger...so time will tell ,im getting my girl scanned in 15 days ,fingers crossed your girl isnt having anouther phantom xx

My bitch was scanned for 5 pups, I could easily see these on the scan, but she only gave birth yesterday
to a single pup, so yes they reasorb most if not all a litter, she looked like she was having more

Isn't she about the time that the pups rearrange themselves inside? I don't have my book of the bitch to hand so can't remember exactly when they do. This could change her shape, but yes, there is always the possibilty of reabsorbtion.

ive been told they can reabsorb right up to 7 weeks but not sure how true this is ?

my bitch changed her shape (slimmed right down) at 7 weeks so could well believe this.

I found my book of the bitch which states that the folding of the horns happens from day 45 to 55 so the bitch would change shape during that time.
