Is reobosortion likely to happen if a bitch is carrying more puppies that the breed normally would? Her breed normally has 3 but she has just been scanned and she has 5

no not always ,breed size for my breed is aound 7/8 but my boy sired alitter of 12 1 died at birth and i know alot of breeders that have had 10/12 pups born big and healthy so i wouldnt worry to much :)

If three is the average they have five makes up for all those bitches who only have one or two.

I was recently told by the bloke that scanned my bitch with a sheep scanner that 65% go on to reabsorb 1 or 2.

alot of bitches do reabsorb for many reasons the only reason we now know this is down to so many having our girls scanned ,i had girls have very big litters and have been scanned and ive had girls have the number of pups seen on the scan and my last girl had 6 on the scan we all saw them but to go on and have only 3 pups ,i dont put it down to her being scanned has we could see 1 already in the prosess of being reabsorb so i do think something was wronge with them and its natures way...

My bitch has reabsorbed the last few times she was mated. The only way we could confirm the pregnancy was by scanning her. There are many reasons for the bitch to reabsorb, and having too many pups isn't really one of them. My breed normally have between 7 and 12, but there have been many of 13, 14 and even 15. The main reasons are lack of correct hormones in the bitch (my bitches problem) or health reason, either the bitch or the pups themselves.
