My little c. spaniel is around 10 years old ( rescue so age approx) for the last few months she has been waking a couple of times during the night for a wee, usually around 2am and 4-430am then we get up around 6.30-7am. I have had her checked to make sure she doesn't have an infection and she had the all clear, although vet said to go back if this continues and I think I will have to do this.
She had pyometre when I rescued her and was very poorly and was spayed, do you think she could have a problem caused by this with something pressing on her bladder. I also wonder if she has just created a routine of waking and could go without a wee but as she is awake she starts wandering around and I just assume she wants to go out. I thought about ignoring her, but then guilt sets in if she really did need to go out. All I know is that the sleepless nights are dragging me down, as each time I get up it takes me ages to get back to sleep again, and then no sooner do I nod off than I am woken again.
I have a dread at the back of my mind that it could be a growth but am trying not to think of that at the moment as she is full of beans in every other way.
Has anyone else had these problems.
I should add that she was in a 'breeding " kennel and had 3 litters with no break by 3 years old, hence the pyometre.

I would take her back the vets for a full check up because of her age . Also this will put your mind at rest but her age and past health issues may mean she needs a pee during the night. How late is her last toilet trip,might be worth your while staying up a little longer for her last pee then at least you may get a full nights sleep.

You may also have unintentionally put her into a routine , after the check up and if all is well , I would leaving her to wander if thats what she wants to do and not get up, if she is desperate she may have an accident  but at least you will know one way or the other whether she cant hold it for a longer period, there are meds available which your vet will explain to you.
