Haven't been in here for ages, but I've got a problem with our Ava because she's started to wee in her bed again (she'll be two years old in March) - any ideas why she's doing this? - I haven't actually caught her in the act but I'm positive its her who's doing it -because when I say "Whats this?" to Scarlet and Ava, it's always Ava that looks extremely guilty!
I put all the bedding through the wash and spray it afterwards too with "Totalcare" neutralising spray so I don't think she is smelling where she's been before. She doesn't seem ill in anyway, the only explanation I can think of is that she simply doesn't want to go out in the garden because the weather is really grotty just now?! Please help - any advice would be gratefully received. ;)

you cant tell who it is by a look !!!! she could just be worried because youre in HER bed!

I know it sounds stupid, (sorry for the pun) - but I can just "feel it in my water" that its Ava who is the piddling culprit!!(LOL):)
She had her first season last summer, do you think it might have something to do with hormones? I'm not quite sure when she's going to be ready for her next season - she still looks quite normal underneath

Have you had her checked for a bladder infection? That could make it hard for her to hold on

Haven't had her looked at by the vet yet, but I think I'll book her in to be seen. Our Scarlet had cystitis when she was a pup and she was peeing all the time (with a little yelp at the end of each wee) - Ava doesn't seem to be suffering that way, but I suppose it could well be a different type of infection, couldn't it?

I don't feel quite so alone now :) .....I am having a similar problem with my neutered boy! He is kennelled outside and has a run attached to his kennel but kept weeing on his bedding. I have tried bedding him down on straw and shavings but he still wees on it, as soon as I have changed it for fresh, and continues to do so after He still toilets outside in the garden as normal, so if anyone has any ideas why he's soiling his bed, please let me know.
By the way he is now two and a half years old, and although I have bitches as well this all started before any of them came into season.

It could be that Ava is the more sensitive of the two? Try tearing up a piece of paper and throwing it on the floor infrfront of the dogs - leave the room then come back and ask 'who did it?' - you nkow *you* did it - but I'll guess at least one of the dogs will be 'confessing'.....
Is she coming up for another season? This can cause it, as can stress in the family (Christmas isn't alway full of joy is it? Specially for Mums!) or as other's have suggested a UTI.....

Has she been speyed? urinary incontinence is not uncommon in neutered bitches, "propalin" drops are usually vey effective. Other than that she may have a urine infection, a trip to the vets will put your mind at rest.

Ava hasn't yet been speyed - Scarlet was speyed last April and I'm planning to get Ava done after the next season, which I supose could be due anytime. Ava didn't get her first season until she was over one year old and she is still extremely puppy-like in the way she behaves (she's full of mischief! - Scarlet NEVER got up to the type of things that our Ava does!! - she still nicks things and chews them up, only last week she took my spare mobile phone cover and chewed that up, and her bed soon gets full of all the little trinkets and nick-nacks she manages to aquire and chew up! - if anything goes missing in our house - Avas bed is always our first port of call!) (can be a bit of a pain, we love her to bits though!)
Mind you, Mark (my hubby) wanted to get Vizsla number three - but I've luckily managed to make him see sense! (thank God)LOL
The dogs aren't left at home for long periods of time because I only work 3 and 3/4 hours each day, and because Mark does shift work which includes one week off, week of late starts and a week working from home each month - they aren't usually left at home alone, so I don't think the problem is that she's lonely - the weeing and chewing seems to have occured when we are all at home anyway?! They go out for walks everyday and have a good run in the woods off lead.......I can't think of anything else that we may be doing wrong which is encouraging her to do this.;)

just looking you said that she had a season in the summer. I wonder if it may be linked to her being due soon ? The reason I say that is because Phoebie just before her first season weed in her bed about 4 times when left for shorter periods than other times when she'd never done it and became a bee for chewing anything and everything.

I nearly asked before about the 3rd dog but decided that it was maybe a sore point lol ;)

I have been wondering if this could be linked to her hormones - it is quite possible that she's due her season (no physical signs that I can see yet though) - and because she's only had one season so far, I don't know what her normal cycle will be between seasons. She hasn't done it today at all - but last night I only noticed she'd done it just before bedtime - so I had a mad rush on to get her blankets and vet bed washed and dried in time for her to kip on them!;) (stayed up quite late to sort her out - love my sleep so it's lucky I didn't have to get up this morning;) ) (hope she's not going to do it again at bedtime tonight!)

Can't help cos not "up" on female problems (apart from my own!) but hope you get it sorted out soon - my gut instinct would be to take her to the vet just to clear up any doubt re infection etc. If not, it does seem possible to be linked to her maybe impending season. I wouldn't think after being housetrained that she would go back to wetting in the house for no reason.

So do you still think I should go for Viz no 2????? I'm hoping to get one nearer March/April time!

Yep, I still think you should go for Viz number two!! - spring is a nice time to get a new pup, cos you should have a decent bit of weather to get them housetrained.
Ava piddled on the kitchen floor at about 7 o'clock this evening....this is definitely not normal behaviour for her (I'm getting a bit worried about her). :( Off to the vets first thing tomorrow - don't want her to get sick over Christmas (fingers crossed she wont XXX)

Take a urine sample with you to the vets Mair and they will be able to get a result from it straight away! :)

Oh my goodness, sorry to sound completely thick, but how do I go about getting one of them?:(

Take a clean shallow plastic or glass container out with you when you first let her out for a pee. Stay with her as you need to be quick - when she squats for a wee place the container under her bottom and collect the flow of urine. (you may want to wear a rubber glove!). You don't need much just enough for a dip test! Transfer it into a suitable clean container and take it with you to the vet. :)

Hi - yes off to Skye - mum can cope with feeding alot of people - I panick if more than 2 pans are on the cooker at once!
