- By andyfoster10 [gb] Date 09.11.10 22:44 UTC
hi all to transfer the ownership of the dog you need this code
does any 1 know where it would be located
- By carolyn Date 09.11.10 22:52 UTC
Its on the dogs kc paperwork

Look towards the top.

If you have the registration information from the breeder - KC letter and form to register as your puppy's owner - then it's on the front page under the online instructions AND on the back page top right hand side of the Transfer of Registered Ownership Form.

If you have a dog/puppy that has previously been registered to another owner then they should have a personal Owner Registration Certificate.  On the back of this is the Application For A Change To The Registered Ownership form.  The unique ownership code is again on the top right hand side.

Does this help?

Is that for the dog you want to show, only because I wonder does transfer of ownership then effect the show that you entered, as the name on the papers would be different or is this where the TAF that you sometimes see in schedules come into play?
- By andyfoster10 [gb] Date 09.11.10 23:09 UTC
yes its the same dog would it not be transfered to me before the show
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 09.11.10 23:12 UTC
Maybe but you have to put what is happening on the day of entry so you should have put in brackets TAF.  You'd  better do the transfer quickly or any placings at the show won't mean anything.

Depends on how good the KC turn around times are this month, it could be quick but sods law will say it takes ages and your place at the show wont get awarded.

You can do owernship transfer online http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/owner/
- By Brainless [gb] Date 10.11.10 12:08 UTC
but you need the code, to prove you have the registration certificate.
- By rachelsetters Date 10.11.10 12:12 UTC
Yes of course :)  but quicker online possibly than postal?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 10.11.10 12:17 UTC
the code is only asked for with on-line transfers, otherwise it is already on the form that is sent in.
- By rachelsetters Date 10.11.10 12:18 UTC
Yes I know ?  but still think it would be quicker to do online than by post - I know I will do with next pup.
- By andyfoster10 [gb] Date 10.11.10 13:03 UTC
phoned them up they said it will take 48 hours from the cheque being cleared
- By mountaindreams [gb] Date 10.11.10 13:04 UTC
Andy I thought your dog was older in which case their probably isn't a code on your paperwork as it is a fairly new thing.
- By dogs a babe Date 10.11.10 13:06 UTC
I had all the paperwork from the breeder, signatures, codes etc but did the actual transfer online.  It's a very quick process, the registration transfer is confirmed by return email and the new documents promised within 10 days.  Mine were back within the week.
- By claire_41 [gb] Date 10.11.10 13:19 UTC
yes they are very quick at the moment :) i had a transfer of ownership and my affix added within 2 weeks i think
- By Goldmali Date 10.11.10 14:05 UTC
Have to say the last dog I transferred (this summer) actually took a couple of weeks, despite being done online.
- By andyfoster10 [gb] Date 10.11.10 15:35 UTC
yeah she is 4 and a half nearly 5 but didnt transfer her over to me as i didnt know i had to but found the paper work
so asked whats its for as the breeder didnt tell me so now that ive found this out i have filled it out and sent it 2day

I bought a German shepherd the lady give me the five year pedigree certificate but no unique code is there any way of transferring my dog into my name so i can register her pups without  the unique code , she  now lives in the USA  , I've been on the kennel club site my dog is registered as a pedigree all I have is the kennel club registration number
- By Rhodach [gb] Date 13.09.13 10:42 UTC
did you not get paperwork other than the pedigree, the transfer form and codes are with that paperwork.

ring the KC and ask what can you do.
- By Tommee Date 13.09.13 11:32 UTC
Have you bred from your bitch before getting her transferred into your name ? Not sure what a 5 year pedigree is though ;-)
- By Rhodach [gb] Date 13.09.13 12:25 UTC
I took it that it is a 5 generation pedigree
