I wish I could think of a way, without seeming ungrateful, of training the hubby to pick up the puppy's lunch bowl when she's finished. It's dry food so not particularly a hygiene problem, just that it looks untidy. I'm at work all day 3 days a week, but he works in the village where we live, so he goes home for lunch which means he can feed the puppy. But we have a webcam which we put up when the puppy was first born and we rather like being able to watch our dogs when we aren't there, even though they only snooze, so I can see the empty food bowl lying there in the middle of the kitchen floor all afternoon! It's very kind of him to go and feed her, just wish he could pick up the bowl and put it on the side! :-p

Oh wow! I don't really know how to reply without seeming rude :-) and I am guessing that maybe your post was made with tongue in cheek? If the only thing in my house that made it look untidy were the dogs' bowls I would be over the moon.
In the grand scheme of things an empty dog bowl on the floor is neither here nor there IMHO and a house shared with anyone is the home of you both so maybe he likes to see the dog bowl on the floor or doesn't find it a big deal? Maybe it is his way of showing you that he has remembered to feed the puppy :-)

Haha no it wasn't very serious, I've clearly got too much time on my hands today. It's typical of me that the house is covered in dog hair and dog toys, and my own junk too, but it's the dog bowl that's bugging me! I just like to pick them up and rinse them as soon as they are emptied personally! :-D

A bowl is not so bad. My OH ( now deceased bless him ) once stood on a chair to change a light bulb and walked off leaving the chair in the middle of the lounge. On sheer principle I left it there to see how long it would take for him to put it away . Well after 3 weeks of hoovering round the d..mned chair, guess who put it away... me of course !!!

LMAO.. Oh that made me chuckle. I've done that with things and it does get to the point that it bugs you so much that you have to move it!! Grrr. Clearly its not a priority to them is it? Or they plain don't notice.

Clicker train him!! :-D

Even the OH laughed at that, LOL Lacy

Oh yes sillysue Ive got one like that too. Ive tried the leaving it until he does it kinda thing I must admit not as well as you have and no it doesnt work either.

It's the other way round usually with us, he's the houseproud one and I'm the slob. Which is why it's funny that among all the clutter, I get irritated by a dog bowl left on the floor! I wouldn't say anything because he is good to feed the puppy, and indeed to put up with all the dogs and dog paraphenalia!

oh please please send him my way I would love someone who is houseproud lol

My son never used to pull his socks out before putting them in the washing basket and just put them in as rolled up balls. I got so fed up with asking him to sort them out that I eventually just washed them as they were, hung them on the line still rolled up and gave them back to him in the same state. When he flattened them out to put them on they were still wet in the middle. He came to me with a wet rolled up sock in his hand and a puzzled look on his face, took one look at
my face and walked off again without uttering a sound. Next week all his socks were flattened out ready for washing :-)

Nooo :) My OH is terribly messy, but his father was the total opposite. He always wore the most immaculate white overalls when working :) If my OH did a job for him, my FIL would be hovering behind with the vacuum/dustpan and brush at the ready to clear the mess as he went :) So, although I could scream sometimes at the mess my OH leaves behind, I would HATE to live with someone who was houseproud :) :) A home is a home where you can feel comfortable, not scared of dropping a crumb on the floor :) :) :)

Reminds me of my ex-boss :) His older son would leave his socks on the floor/on the sofa etc, so one day he confiscated ALL his socks and made him go to school without socks until he learnt to be tidier !!

Hear hear Daisy - and on the rare occasions I notice the mess and do a bit of vaccuming, it's never thorough enough. My Dad is the same and my Mum has given up on housework altogether because he just re-does it all no matter how much she tries.

love it :)
Im the same I keep thinking that they should be picked up. Its a bit like getting ready for bed I cant leave any washing up until the morning!! Sad I know, but hey ho it keeps me fit!
I struggled with training an ex to do anything, feeding the dog would have been far to complex for him. As was shutting doors, moving dirty laundry 2ft to the basket and putting the toilet seat down.
In the end I had to have him re-homed.

Whistler. I'm the same, a very sad case. In our house I'm known as the cushion plumper! Can not leave the house at night or durring the day unless it is tidy enough for me to walk back into. Poor OH reasonably well trained, but why when items left on the stairs to go up, even if left in the middle of a step can people walk by/over with out taking them up!

Same here, I have to make sure that all is tidy before I retire to bed of an evening aswell! I have the same problem with the stairs!
Luckily enough we have no stairs but I make sure its all tidy and yes I would be ashamed to let anyone see my house in a mess, Im forever washing floors from dog paws.
But I do allow the dogs on the sofa for a cuddle I would be depriving me not them!! Sad case its a bit OCD really.

In the end I had to have him re-homedLOL--I settled for rehoming too but I was very tempted to have him put down!

Rehoming not an option here, his higher salary helps fund the dog show habit! :-p
Hi Lucy
I do know what you mean. As you know I have four dogs and as soon as I have fed them and they have emptied their bowls I pick them up and wash them (the bowls not the dogs!). However hubby ALWAYS leaves them hanging around on the floor which I think looks quite unpleasant. However in all othe respects he isn't too bad and I don't suppose I would find another fella to put up with me and four dogs!!!
Snowflake

Haha that's so true Snowflake! I'd never dream of nagging him to do it because I don't do much housework myself and I spend all his money on dog shows! :-D

Where on earth did you find this paragon--the Unicorn Store??? :)
I must have been going to the Goodwill Box...used up my goodwill on someone else's castoff. Hurray for dogs!

Lol JAY15 he is a wonderful man and I often feel I'm a selfish ungrateful so-and-so - poor hubby!

Well make sure you tell him what a wonderful pair of rare birds you are!!! Lovely to hear it can really work out.
When my son went off to uni the first thing he said was how happy he would be to not have doghair on his clothes ever again :) So much for "and I'll really miss your cooking, ma!"
