Hi folks , can anybody give me advice on my dogs feet.
He seems to get what almost looks like boils that grow then burst inbetween his toes on the front paws only. ive never seen them on the back paws.
I check his feet for grass seeds. i was told it could be this, but why never the back paws and he gets them in winter too . Whats the best way to treat him .is there a cream i can use that is safe...thanks for your help

It sounds similar to what my boy has, he has interdigital furunculosis. Its very painful. You should take him to the vet and get it looked at.

Its a long story.

If it IS Furunculosis its not something you can sure just keep under control.

Antibiotics first of all, that worked for him for a while (8 weeks) then we did a biopsy to make sure there was no tumour causing it.
Again anti biotics for a while (12 weeks) it then came back so after getting it under control with antibiotics once again we tried Atopica.
This is very expensive.
All in all this year in total on our insurance we have paid 4k in treatments and specialists.

They sound like interdigital cysts.

Hi, one of ours has had something similar over a period of time. They never became infected and once burst, he paid little attention. They came on quite fast and the first I would know would be him licking between his toes, did ask the vet about them and was given a name, which in typical fashion I've forgotten. As soon as he developed one, bathed it in warm boiled water with a little salt through out the day and at night put on a little sudocrem. Once burst, I continued to bath it morning and evening and used sudocrem again. They healed quickly. He does have very large feet with deep areas between in toes, always kept them clean but now check them 'most' days & haven't had a recurrence for over a year, I believe dogs can grow out of them. If you have any concerns ask your vet.

Interdigital cysts, bath with salt water, then dilute hibiscrub (to kill bacteria and any fungus, as secondary infection due to location a strong possibility) and then Witch Hazel will dry and heal.
