Topic Other Boards / Foo / Xmas present ideas for an impossible father

He still needs to have a present whether I agree with the festivities or not.

He is not all that interested in much and isn't one to really go and do something on his own.
I have in the past purchased a flying lesson for him, which I had to book in the end and paid a late booking fee too.

He likes woodwork but the local agricultural colleges don't cover the level he is at. I've looked at his woodworking magazines to see if there is a weekend of something somewhere, but he won't travel and stay overnight anywhere on his own.
He likes music but hates crowds, so any concert is out.
We've done WestEnd musicals and there is not a lot left out there which would suit his tastes, bearing in mind We Will Rock You is right up his street.

He loves the F1 GP and i've looked at general admission tickets and they are £130 for the sunday only, which is a lot. I'd go with him, but all in all that is £260 without booking fee etc

I could just get him a jumper or some other clothes form, but its boring..

HELP!!!! Ask away with questions..

if he loves the GP then thats what I would get him. what about some GP memorabilia eg a picture , books , DVD of GP through the ages

dont know where you live but my local paper book trips to the gp accommodation coach travel and entry etc all inclusive but it is pricey maybe you could say it was a birthday /xmas joint gift.
If he has never been he will love it my OH goes every year ..but he camps over for the whole weekend.

What about a magazine subscription to his woodwork magazine or the f1 one?

Could you go halves with someone else on the F1 tickets? Or how about those Red Letter Day experience things, that might have some racing stuff on offer. My Dad's impossible too, he just says he's got enough stuff to 'see him out' and he doesn't really go anywhere except stamp fairs and car shows.

Got visions of telling my father that, he'd hate that, but i'd be in my element.. As it is only can do the sunday as I have Take That the night before at Wembley :-)

I may think about other people helping, but the joint birthday present sounds good.. hmmm
